[3/22, 12:59 PM] Obi: Out of all segments of animal or livestock production ..feed remains the most important aspect of this production.
With over 70 percent of the total cost of livestock production. Attributed to feed production.
This makes feed production the number one segment of livestock production that all farmers must have good knowledge of.
Because production of the primary feed materials are seasonal in Nigeria, this means no one feed material may be available all year round and the lack of adequate facilities in place in Nigeria is not helping matters
This deficiency leaves farmers no choice than to know or learn how to juggle feed materials for their different livestock.
Though its obvious that farmers will make good profit only when they are in charge of this 70 percent cost of production attributed to feed.
Feed material availability and cost of such materials are factors to consider when farmers make feed

But the most important nutrition or nutrient remains the protein.
Its the most expensive nutrient and majority the 70 percent cost of feed is attributed to protein.
That is why quality of feed is based on the amount of crude protein ...CP of a feed produced.
This leads to farmers knowing a simple calculation on how to juggle crude protein.
There are various methods but we have decided to adopt the Pearson square method
Because its easy for everyone to understand.
Before i go into that farmers need to know some basic crude protein of some basic feed ingredients popularly used in Nigeria.
This data will guide farmers in these ingredients juggling

Wheat offal...14 percent.
Cattle manure ensiled dry...15cp.
Rice bran...12 percent.
