🌷🐛Springtime toxins .... A reminder as we move into some more settled and hopefully sunny weather. With more of us taking the time to tend to gardens, some products carry risks to our pets 🐦🐶🐱.

Springtime is gardening time - also the time when those pesky slugs and snails attack our cherished seedlings! Before you reach for the slug bait, pause, and think about the safety of your pets. Anything with ‘bait’ in the name is highly attractive to dogs, who will readily eat as much as they can find. The active ingredient in Slug bait is highly toxic ☠️ to dogs, cats and birds. Only a small amount can cause severe symptoms and death. Speak to your vet team about safe handling, storage, and alternative options.

Meet Charlie. This handsome fella was in recently due to receiving a cat bite, which turned into an abscess requiring a sedation and lancing for it to drain. Cats bites are common this time of year with the start of the warmer weather and being outdoors more. Cats can bite other cats anywhere from tails and bottoms to heads, chest and limbs. Keep an eye on your pet for painful lumps, off food, quieter than usual, wounds with smelly discharge or anything unusual behaviour.
