SPCA Rescue ep10
And just like that... our TV show is coming to an end! Don’t miss tonight’s season finale of #SPCARescue on TVNZ 1 for a hearty dose of amazing animal stories, including the rescue of three sweet kittens dumped in a box and left for dead. You’re safe now, little ones ❤️
Remember Hands? We're happy to say he's found an amazing new home! His new parents have even put together a montage.
This is the sort of success story we love to see and is always hugely heartwarming to see updates on the homes our animals have found ❤
Hoping everyone enjoyed the sunshine today like cute little Esmé did!
Here she is enjoying our sensory garden doing the zoomies ☀️
She’s available for adoption, along with many other puppies. Visit our website
We've got a whole lot of dogs here at the Hamilton centre and it seems someone may have spilled black paint over them...
Black dogs are often passed over for adoption despite being just as amazing as any other canine so share your black dogs in the comments below to show the love for these pups.

Hi, my name is Zeus and I'm 7 years old.
At approx. 50kg, it's fair to say I am a big boy, but really just a gentle giant. I arrived at SPCA with my sister Savvy when our owners had to go overseas. Savvy, who is approx. 60kg, and I are both big, friendly dogs who need somewhere warm, dry and safe to plod around with someone loving and caring by our sides. Being senior citizens, we are looking for a retirement home to live our twilight years in. We haven't been socialised with other dogs and are not good with cats or small animals. Since we have spent our entire lives together, we are looking for a home together and will only go to separate homes as a last resort. If you can offer this lovely old couple a loving home, please don't hesitate to enquire about them today.
Hi, my name is Savvy and I'm 7 years old.
At approx. 60kg, it's fair to say I am a big girl, but really just a gentle giant. I arrived at SPCA with my brother Zeus when our owners had to go overseas. Zeus, who is approx. 50kg, and I are both big, friendly dogs who need somewhere warm, dry and safe to plod around with someone loving and caring by our sides. Being senior citizens, we are looking for a retirement home to live our twilight years in. I have been diagnosed with a few old dog conditions that the team at the SPCA will need to make you aware of if you're interested in me. We haven't been socialised with other dogs and are not good with cats or small animals. Since we have spent our entire lives together, we are looking for a home together and will only go to separate homes as a last resort. Because I'm a bigger dog and I'm getting on in age, my weight loss will need to be maintained to prevent further health issues. If you can offer this lovely old couple a loving home, please don't hesitate to enquire about them today.
These lovable pooches are located in Invercargill if you think they would be the right fit for your family please get in touch with the team i

Short video of Queenie fat
CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THE NUMBER ONE THREAT TO PET HEALTH IS?
Veterinarians and animal welfare organisations worldwide agree: the number one threat to our pets is obesity. Globally, pets are getting bigger, and unfortunately, their lives are getting shorter as a result. Obesity can shorten a dogs’ life expectancy by up to 25%!
One dog who was burdened by obesity is Queenie, who was surrendered to SPCA in November 2017. She was so obese that she could hardly waddle around, and wouldn’t let anyone touch her. She was uncomfortable and unhappy.
SPCA stepped in and helped Queenie with a good diet, a solid walk plan, and a foster family to live with. Her foster mum said that Queenie required four people to lift her into the car to get her to her foster home on that first day.
Today, Queenie is a completely different dog, trotting up hills, playing with other dogs, and running around the 20-acre property. She even loves a belly-rub, and has lost a vast amount of weight. Queenie’s foster mum says, while her weight-loss journey has been a long one, she is so much happier now.
Regular walks have helped transform Queenie. Dogs should be walked for an hour a day, every day but this can be broken up into shorter walks for dogs who are not used to this level of exercise!
