โค Mama Royal and her eight - update! โค
Just some feel goods for hump day Wednesday! Only 10 days in, here's an update from Mama Royal's loving foster mama Summer:
"Royal has improved greatly, and slowly putting on weight... after giving birth to 2.6 Kg of puppies, she was actually quite skinny, could see her ribs & spine. With trying to put weight on Royal and the fact she's feeding 8 pups, she's on 5 cups a day! She's definitely more confident & comfortable here, loves her snuggles. All pups are putting an average of 10-15% of their birth weight per day... which is perfect! Definitely a lot more wriggling around the bed. ๐คฃ"
Life is just going to get sweeter for all!

Donald is such a gorgeous brindle boy who should be adopted already!!! Being in foster care for 8 months - WHAAAAAT - c'mon team, we know his sweet whฤnau is out there looking for this particular vibe - he's THE complete package!!! ๐
From his loving foster dad Chris:
โI think the pain Donald suffered as a very sick puppy, got embedded into his eyes... his eyes tell you all you need to know about him. He has a gentle soul and enjoys lots of things. In his 5 months with us, he has lived with 2 older females and recently with 4 and at times up to 6 or 7! Maybe what I see in his eyes is the pain of living with that many females! Haha! Donald is a good pup and would thrive in a loving home, preferably with other dogs. He's shown no interest in cats he's encountered on our walks, nor has he displayed any aggression to other animals.โ
Currently adored by his foster whฤnau, Chris knows Donald will be the perfect addition to any fun loving home! ๐ฅฐ

We know Gabriel would particularly love to give a shout out to Flava Nutrition Studio fam, for supporting us and letting him put a donation box in store to help collect funds .. and getting some top quality shnuggs!๐ฅฐ
Also to a gorgeous lady who saw Gabriel inside and just had to meet him - she was so kind and gentle and even donated $10 then and there, he really loved giving her shnuggs ๐พ๐ฅฐ.
He also got to see the gurls at his favourite vets Pet Doctors and have a social visit, before heading home for a big snooze - he says fundraising is hard work for a little pup, but he will be back at it tomorrow.

Within 48hours, our hub changed because of Mocha - we are all rattled to the core - revolted, angry, upset with deep gut-burning resentment by failings in our animal welfare and system.
This is a hard read - but if youโre an animal advocate and want to do more in the plight to save and rescue, then you should read on, in honour of Mocha at least.
Mocha was only 3 weeks old - born into a world of violence - an innocent soul who some coward focussed their rage on. Mocha was only 3 weeks old when he was saved and taken into care - everyone hands on board, from All Paws Count Murupara Trust, Massey University ICU, Pet Doctors and us Animal Fostering Hub NZ, to try and save this little life. Mocha was only 3 weeks old, when he lost the battle and crossed the rainbow bridge.

Since getting the call from All Paws Count Murupara Trust Wednesday night and doing a 7hr round trip from 630pm to 230am the next day - our hub has been on edge, many of us praying and begging deals from the man upstairs. Jangled nerves every time the phone rings and honestlyโฆ I can't speak for everyone but for me, it feels like I haven't cried so much since when my mom and more recently, my grandson died.
But please - don't make the mistake that they are just tears of sadness and exhaustion, because they're not. They're also tears of unbridled rage. Rage at the pathetic, cretinous, sub-human gang member who did this. The THING who is boo-hooing at the world that the bump on his forehead is bigger than the one in his pants, and taking his frustrations on that of an innocent, defenseless puppy.
I wonder what he will do when his child doesn't start walking at the speed of his moronic expectations, or talks with a stutter, or has a lazy eye. Pffft ... who am I kidding? We know what he will do.
I guess personally - I can only hope his deed

I know all of us at the Hub were anxiously awaiting delivery news overnight, but Mama Royal is still holding her pups in! ๐ซฃ
From her loving foster mama Summer,
"Morning. Well, Royal is doing a lot better than me ๐คฃ feeling jaded LOL! Royal had a good night, VERY early signs of pre labour. Expect to see stage 1 begin in next 72 hrs, but as we all know now, animals doing nothing predictable....especially when on to litter No. 6! Feeding her small amounts of puppy food often... even during the night as this helps with building & conserving energy for labour. Puppy food for Mum is critical for pregnancy & nursing as higher energy & calories. I've even had kisses!"
Awww Mama Royal - you keep being the Queen you are, and when nature kicks in, Mama Summer will be right there with you! ๐ฅน

With the combined forces of The Animal Pataka - OTARA who rescued this darling, Pawtea - Kennels & Cattery and Ally who organised and transported her safely to Summer, to our amazing fosterer Summer for being armed and ready for the Madam and her litter, and our own wonderful team here of animal rescue volunteers to help coordinate in the efforts - we have a Royal mama - safe and sound and ready to have her babies ๐ฅน
This is what community rescue is all about - working together to save lives โค๏ธ

โAlisdair is looking for a furever home, where someone doesn't mind a big baby lap dog! He is so loveable. He is great with children. I have a disabled daughter, and he is so gentle. He also is great with my cat. She suggested up to him and he cleans her ears!
Loves to play with toys and getting pretty good at fetch. Also can hear opening of a freezer rooms away. Loves ice.
He will learn anything for a treat. Has to be done with no other dogs around.
He has two foster brothers of mine. They play like they grew up together. He is very silly, and so darn cute.โ
God knows why he isn't adopted yet, but we know patience is key, because the RIGHT whฤnau will come along who will scoop Alisdair up and continue his beautiful journey! We've got you wee man!

This foster pup from Saving Hope Foundation is loving the sunny days that Wellington SOMETIMES offers! Look at how awesome he is with his attention to his hooman and the recall - simply gorgeous!!! ๐
Growing leaps and bounds, Hammish is insanely adorable and every day he brings joy to his loving foster whฤnau, "Hammy has totally melted us with his beautiful nature and sweetest vibe! He will only go to the most perfect home who are dedicated to nurturing this sweetie into the big gentleman he is destined to be! I can't even begin to express what a dude this boy is - he's a definite catch - he's so crazy cool!" ๐
Hammish lives with two foster dog-siblings and gets on well with them both, takes no interest in cats when walking past them on walks and smooches everyone he meets - he ADORES attention! He will make an amazing first dog for ANY home, and his ideal whฤnau will be one where he can be by your side all the time - Hammish is so incredibly loyal and just wants to be with you, 'cos when he loves, he LOVES deeply! ๐ฅฐ
He is loo trained, crate trained (he doesn't sleep in there though as he is allowed to sleep anywhere here), and he is getting more confident without his foster mama around! Being completely food obsessed too means training is a doddle! ๐ถ

Here's how one of our Hub heroes Tracey keeps her puppo's Jake and Oscar stimulated without the need of a daily walk!
Sprinkle and hide food in the back yard and leave them to search their heart out for the precious treats!
'Cos when youโre short on time or the weather is a bit underwhelming or you just need a day to chill, then enrichment activities such as this, is a great way to give your puppo's some mental stimulation when you canโt give them physical activity.
Easy huh? And you never know, even the kitty's may come and join too!
We all want the best for our BFF's, so let's share some good ideas to keep them happy and stimulated AND while in the comfort of your own home!
