Thoroughbreds winning today.
First ride for Coco 🇲🇨 (raced as Classy Lady) since she arrived in the Autumn. She was a little sensitive but learning how to relax. She's not sure about this slower life - just 15 mins of walking was all that was asked today!
Misty ☁️ had her second ride - a short 15 mins and a small trot. Buttons are still functional and, although she's fresh (for her 😂) she tries really hard.
4 horses worked this morning with grabbing rides on Fudge 🍫 and Kimmi 🌸.

With daylight savings starting, and a little more dry weather, our track is open for private hireage.
$15 per horse; $10 per horse for more than one.
Yards, wash down available to use.
Track is sand based. Grass over most. A little uneven in places but harrowed regularly.
Helmets must be worn; back protectors recommended.

It's been relatively quiet here at Iron Rose.
A wet and windy start to spring, the conclusion of winter sports and slowly the days are getting longer.
These school holidays will see our horses start to come into work ready for a busy-ish season.

Asher will be riding Fudge 🍫, working with Poppy 🏵️ and taking over the reins for Kimmi 🌸
Harlow will be showing Rocky 🗿inhand and hacking out Misty ☁️
That leaves me to school them all at various points, and put time and effort into our OTTB Coco 🇲🇨 (Classy Lady) who has been turned out since her arrival in May.

Exciting (and busy!) times ahead!

It's with a heavy heart I can let everyone know Poppy's much anticipated foal was born last night.

Unfortunately, despite best efforts, the little filly didn't survive.

A very small bay filly with a white star, sadly premature; unable to stand and nurse, passed away within two hours of being born.

Poppy 🏵️ graduated to a paddock yesterday 👏

We went with Rocky 🗿 as her paddock mate since he's like a giant red Labrador.

Belly is growing; we're watching intently for signs she's getting close to foaling. August foal I predict! 🤰

The holidays arrived at the right time - for renovations!

Poppy's udder is juuuust starting to bag, and as you can see, we have a very active foal!
Paddock #1 is now closed off ready to be the foaling paddock.
Thanks to for opening up the yards so Poppy and the foal can have access undercover.
Leading lessons are going well, and we hope to have Poppy 🏵️ out into a grassy paddock with Fudge 🍫 by the end of the holidays.

It's been relatively quiet here at Iron Rose as we prepare for winter ❄️

Asher has been working consistently with Poppy 🏵️ Living Life With Poppy.
Gaining her trust slowly.
Poppy is from Zone 20, a live firing range in Waiouru. A wild Kaimanawa mustered on ANZAC Day, Poppy has been making delicate steps in the process of learning about domestic life.

While our ponies get fat and hairy, we'll be resting up, ready for the boarding horses in the school holidays!

Poppy has started to enjoy her hard feed; she's slowly realising the people with the buckets are 'kind of ok'!
Poppy is currently nibbling at Dunstan Horsefeeds Breed and Grow, Betabeet, Fiber Fresh Equine - New Zealand Fibre Pro, meadow chaff and Fixine 4 Equine.

She getting so calm and quiet around me and other people now, I'm so happy with how far she's come in such little time.

It's always such a pleasure having my students' horses board with us over the school holidays.
We have had the privilege of looking after Manu and Apollo.
After a week on holiday, Manu is having a few rides to stretch his legs before he returns on Monday.
