Thought I'd share a video of me riding in the Rookie division of the recent Aoraki Western Riding Club NZCCA points approved challenge for those of you who haven't competed in or watched a challenge before to know what to expect. It isn't perfect by any means, but hopefully it helps with getting you out there competing and not just practicing! 🤠🦄
What horsey goals have you achieved or want to achieve over lockdown?
Mine was to get my non floaters floating. I’ve been working with Polly for an hour or so a day for the past few days and today I had a massive break through. I’ve been second guessing everything I’ve been doing. Questioning is she stubborn? Is she scared? Is she confused? I’ve had many people help and give advice with not much luck. But I’ve been trying to listen to her. Watch her. Figure out what pushes her buttons. Today I got rid of my anxieties, tried to get rid of the worry about all the things that could go wrong. Today she heard me. She got it. The penny dropped. I had her in and out of the float calmly about 8 times. I’m on cloud nine!
Ohape River at Green Meadows 30th May 2021
Had a very wet and stressful day here at Green Meadows! The Ohapi stream which runs through our property burst its banks but lucky so far has not gone too far into paddocks. Horses are dry and warm inside the stables. Hope you are all staying safe and your fur babies are coping ?!
