Brought one of my own horses back in for a wee refresher after being turned out for a while, safe to say he’s got a good foundation on him and remembers everything!
Booga is a very level headed young horse with a lot of potential and beautiful movement! He’ll be finished off and up for grabs in the near future 👌
Our QH c**t Obie came in for a bit of handling this last week, Getting a bit of handling done before he goes to mares next season. Gonna be a ripper!
Ruff came in for a bit of handing yesterday, picking up how to lead like it’s a breeze!

All loaded and ready to get into some horses down the line! Happy new year everyone , hope you and your ponies are enjoying the beautiful weather we’re having.
After a few weeks away from the horses due to whanau related matter’s we’re back in the saddle again and rearing to go!

Had my younger brother and his partner come and stay with me this week, they came from the South Island for a bit of a holiday and the visit family and friends.
They both hadn’t ridden for a long time but convinced them to get on and away we went, just like riding a bike he reckons!! Morgan was on Kiri’s old show horse and he looked after him well and Caitlyn was on a breaker I did this time last year, Well done you two was a awesome time!
Morgan reckons he’s back into the horses for good now, been scrolling trade me and all!

This week I had Billy with me, a 2yo pony learning a bit of foundation and ground work.
She has come a long way in just a week and is now a breeze to handle. Dropped her back at her owners today and she was a dream for them and has alot of potential to make a great pony. Well done Billy you’ve got a bright future ahead of you!

Kia Ora all! It’s been a while since I’ve updated what I’ve been doing!
It’s been a busy winter with horses coming in and being away to start horses. I had the privilege of going back to Wairoa to start some c**ts and work with some beautifully bred horses. It’s always a pleasure to get out and handle well bred animals , owned by some wonderful people! Thank you Rakau Brindle Horses for having me back , it’s always a pleasure!
I’ve also been busy rebuilding my round pen , something different for the winter and it’s coming along great. Will post updates when she’s complete.
I’ve also had some time to bring one of my own horses back into work, I got Booga earlier in the year along with his sister and put some foundation work on them before I turned them out.
I brought Boog back in this week and he was an absolute champ hasn’t missed a beat and will make a great horse with a few more miles on him! I will be parting with him at some point after I’ve finished him off , so if your on the hunt for something he may be your man.

It’s about time I did an introduction! I’m Mitch Webb the trainer here at Wairua Horsemanship. I’m based up in waihi these days with my partner (long way from home!) Breaking, training and dealing with problematic horses from all walks of life.
My passion for horses came from a very young age as I grew up around them and can’t get enough of them, I originally was a shepherd before turning my passion into my everyday life.

Delta making progress! First saddle for her today, she’s come a long way since she turned up. She’s a very touchy horse but is becoming a lamb
Booga is coming along nicely! Put the first ride on him yesterday and he has a beautiful soft head and carriage, will make a awesome horse in the future!

Delta has come a long way!! She was the touchier of the two and now she’s becoming a master piece ! She’s a tough mare and I can’t wait to get her broke and pumping!
Booga is getting quiet now, just getting the basics on him before he starts the training process!
Welcome home Booga and Delta! I picked these two up yesterday, They are both 6yo Warmblood crosses that go back to the famous eventer Double Take. Looking forward to starting these horses from scratch as they have had very little handling! I’m very excited to see how far they will go!
Kingi desensitising
Kingi is a 2.5 yr old gelding from Te kaha that I’ve started this week. He’s a very cruisey and gentle horse with a very soft feel. He will make a great horse in time, he will be up for sale once finished.
