Dave Culham Drive – this Sunday 18 October 2020 – 7am to 3pm.
The road will be closed between the two roundabouts including Te Matau a Pohe for repairs to the road paving.

There will still be access to the Dog Park for pedestrians only.

Hey dog owners - time to clean up your act!

When you're out with pooch you have a responsibility to remove their leavings.

Health and Bylaws Manager, Reiner Mussle says Kensington Park seems to have been one of the worst areas in our District for leavings.

“Kensington Park is actually a dog restricted area because it is used by hundreds of children and adults for team sports each week. As we move into Alert Level 2 sports may resume, so it’s important that our sportsfields and parks are ready to use.”

Mr Mussle says dog owners who don’t remove their dog’s faeces from public places and dispose of it appropriately may face a fine of $300.

Good news😀
The council see and hears comments on Facebook.
And mainly to the thanks of the Dog Park Committee☺.

The council parks department has over sown the field with grass.

Photos shows grass did grow back from the dry weather however left it thin all over.

Council are helpful while the lockdown levels from this Covid-19 means dogs can't entry the Dog Park at present. Great timing for the parks department to do another repair.

Yes hopefully they will fill the holes and cracks.

Dog Park is still closed.... Until the level 3 is reduced.
It will be the same for children playgrounds that are closed at present.

How is your dog training going? Are we going to see many tricks you taught your dogs...🐾🐾

Hello everyone we hope you are all in your isolation bubbles.

One of the administrators "Tony" is up in Kaitaia testing people for Covid-19.

We want, to make sure you are all isolate to your own pods. Or you may see someone like him.

He had to have his first shave in 20 years to make sure the mask is sealed to his face.

Just to let you know the Whangarei District Council parks department have allowed Armourguard to run some dogs in the dog park.

"Armourguard have 5 dogs at their pound that are waiting for adoption. Obviously this will not happen until after we are out of lockdown. Armourguard are looking for a controlled location to exercise these dogs. We have given them permission to use the dog park.
Can you let people know what’s happening via your page".

The Whangarei District Council is going to do some work to the Whangarei Public Dog Park. TUESDAY 29th 8am to 11am

It great to hear this news. However they will need to close the park while work is being done for safety and speed.

On Tuesday they will be working on the grass, they need to look after the hundred thousand dollars plus work they did this year. 🐾🐾🙂

When you go for your dog walk make sure you have a few plastic bags with your dog. 🙂

Is someone trying to tell you they want a W-A-L-K?

Whangarei has loads of parks and on-leash walking tracks to keep your good boy happy BUT please avoid the Pohe Island dog park on Tuesday morning to allow for 8am - 11am maintenance work.

Update: Next week the driveway in going to be repaired. 🙂

The drive will be closed however you can park by the EASY BEAN and walk you dog to the Whangarei Public Dog Park. Will post up which day when contractor tells us.

The council like to know good news and any work needs to be done.

On Sunday afternoon a beautiful 7 year old Black Labrador Dog called Daisy was bitten by another dog at the dog park. We have been told the male owner didn't appear to worry or concern? He may not realise the damage his dog has done.

We have been told it's doesn't look good for Daisy at the moment. She under strong medicine at present and she may need full surgery within days if the medicine doesn't get hold of the infection.

If anyone saw the incident on Sunday afternoon could you contact: p/m Tony Gill or 0274 739543

The person who dog bite Daisy may not realise the damage their has dog done? They can contract Tony🐾🐾🙂.

If any dog bites another you should pass your name/details to each other straight away.

We at the Whangarei Public Dog Park wish Daisy to have a quick recovery...and thinking of her two fantastic owners.🙂🙂

Over the next few weeks the dog park will have some contractors working in the dog park to replace some drainage pipes.
We have been told that the Whangarei District Council will put up fences inside the dog park so the dogs can play safely while the contractors work. THANKS WDC.🙂🐾🐾
We will let you know more details when we are told.
