Off to the hatchery. 5th and last batch for year 2023 breeding. On the left are 11 sasso eggs from 2 hens gathered within a week. On the right are 22 native chicken eggs from the farm of Papa dear. Again, fingers crossed for many fertile eggs. Viable eggs to be determined after 10 days in the hatchery.🙏

Good afternoon mga ka-chicken. Gusto ko lang i-share ang aking future ranging area. Excited lang po at natutuwa sa magiging kalabasan ng aking sariling sikap. Gamit ang available materials na nasa bahay at paligid para makatipid. Di pa tapos ang kanilang open coop. Rest day ngayon at mag isa akong nagtayo nung frame. Napakabigat ng mga kawayan. Sakit ng aking gout 😜. Gawa sa bakal ang main posts. Mga sobra nung nagrenovate sa bahay. Mga kawayan naman ang magiging support at apunan ng mga manok. Tolda lang muna ang bubong kasi yun ang meron. May mga suggestions po ba kayo or any ideas na makakatulong dito sa yard? Mga tipid tips ba. Newbie sa free range here. Manok panabong kasi ang alaga ko dati. Thank you for your time. Iyaman

For sharing only. Before I decided to start breeding free range chickens, I used to breed gamefowls. Opo! Manok panabong. Tumigil lang ako dahil di na kaya ng ekonomiya. Tapos dumating pa pandemya at natigil ang sabong. Good thing is, I still have some of my equipments. Scratch pens and brooders. Bawas gastos! In anticipation of the arrival of sasso chicks from the hatchery, konting repair lang para naka ready na ang paglalagyan sa kanila. As backyard breeders, we have to make do with what we have. Sa mga baguhan sa pagmamanok, di po kelangan bago lagi ang kagamitan nyo. Matuto mag remedyo. Kayo po mga ka manokis, ano pa tipid tips ang ginawa nyo sa inyong manukan. Pa share naman. Posting just to share. This broodstock Sasso chickens were acquired in 2021. Given by the City Government to interested residents, aimed at curbing the effects of the pandemic, they were used to produce table eggs for the family up until now. From 10 hens and 2 roosters, these are all that's left. I then decided to breed them for a new venture. In my yard, they roam freely to forage. Aside from quality high protein commercial feeds given in the morning, they are also fed madre de agua, sayote, papaya, napier grass, coconuts, and some vegetable trimmings. Except for the coconuts, all are planted at the backyard. Poultry vitamins is also added to their drinking water. These beautiful ladies initially produced 52 eggs in 4 batches. A fellow breeder gave an additional 10 eggs. So 62 eggs are currently being incubated at a commercial hatchery. With fingers crossed, I am hoping for healthy chicks as future free range layers and a select few as the next generation broodstock. Of course unfertile eggs and mortalities are expected as well. A ranging area and coop is currently being prepared.
