Calicivirus felino

Puede provocar úlceras en la cavidad bucal. El virus ingresa en las células del huésped y deposita su material genético, que ya no puede ser eliminado.
En la infección por calicivirus no se produce latencia, la enfermedad se puede controlar, pero el virus continúa replicándose y transmitiéndose a través de secreciones y saliva. No se transmite a los humanos.
La vacunación no inmuniza al animal, sólo atenúa los signos clínicos.
Los principales signos clínicos son pérdida de apetito, salivación, dificultad para tragar, postración.

El diagnóstico se puede realizar mediante PCR, utilizando un hisopo para recoger saliva.

Acute kidney failure in a 14 year old dog. Blood test showing very high Creatine, BUN, and Phosporus levels.

Creatinine results needed dilution but this is enough to tell us the kidneys are damaged.

I've tested this dog's blood only last October and the kidneys were fine back then. Why all of a sudden the kidney parameters are too high now?

Something is not right.

So I asked the owner if there was any chance her dog might have been exposed to something, like a new food product or chemical or anything new at home?

Owner said she bought mouth spray for her dog online, started using it on a Sunday, then her dog had seizures and sudden collapse 2 days after.

So that's it.
