What is Belgian Shepherd Dog Association of the Philippines?

Belgian Shepherd Dog Association of the Philippines Incorporated (BESDAP) is a non profit organization that caters to dog sports specifically to the breed of Belgian Shepherd.

BESDAP is affiliated with The Federation Mondiale du Berger Belge (FMBB), translated as the World Federation of the Belgian Shepherd, the international organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the Belgian Shepherd breed worldwide. FMBB serves as a unifying body for Belgian Shepherd enthusiasts, breeders, and competitors across the globe.

FMBB organizes and sanctions various sports and competitions designed to showcase the abilities and talents of Belgian Shepherds. These sports not only serve as a platform for enthusiasts to bond with their dogs but also as a means to evaluate the breed's working capabilities.

Below are some of the sports endorsed by FMBB:

IPO/IGP (Internationale Prüfungs-Ordnung/International Utility Dog Trials): A three-phase sport that includes tracking, obedience, and protection work, designed to test the dog's versatility and utility.

Agility: A fast-paced sport where dogs navigate obstacle courses, testing their speed, agility, and handler communication.
Breed Shows: Events where Belgian Shepherds are judged against the breed standard, evaluating conformation and adherence to breed characteristics.

Rally Obedience: A sport combining elements of traditional obedience with agility, focusing on teamwork between dog and handler as they navigate a course of designated exercises.

Mondioring: Created by delegates from several countries in Europe and America, in hopes of utilizing different portions of already existing national dog sports and allowing an enriching union of all the enthusiasts of working dogs, beginners or experienced. Its goal is to be entertaining for the spectators, a game of progressive difficulties for the participants, and a competitive sport for the training enthusiasts.

Canicross and Bikejoring: Dog sport that involves a human and a dog cross country running.

Herding: sport event for dogs typically involves testing the natural herding instincts and abilities of certain breeds of dogs, particularly those bred for herding livestock. These events simulate real-life herding situations and often take place in a controlled environment such as a herding arena or field.

Rescue Dog: A rescue dog sport typically involves training dogs to assist in various search and rescue (SAR) operations, which may include finding lost individuals, locating disaster victims under rubble, or tracking down missing persons in wilderness settings. These sports aim to simulate real-life rescue scenarios while also providing valuable training for both dogs and handlers.
