Johne`s disease 👇

Johne`s disease is a specific chronic contagious enteritis of cattle, sheep, goat, buffaloes and occasionally of pigs. The disease is characterized by progressive emaciation and in cattle and buffaloes by chronic diarrhea and thickening of the intestine.

Transmission under natural conditions the disease spread by ingestion of feed and water contaminated by the faeces of infected animals. The infection occurs mostly in the early month of life. The incubation period extends from 12 months to several years. The animal aged 3 to 6 years mostly suffer from the disease. Affected animals may not show clinical symptoms continue to discharge organisms in faeces. The organisms persist in pastures for about 1 year. The organisms are susceptible to sunlight, drying and high ph of soil; continuous contact of urine with faeces reduces the life of bacteria. In cattle clinical signs appear mainly during 2-6 years of age. The infected animals which are apparently healthy, often show clinical signs after parturition.

Treatment the organisms is more resistant to chemotherapeutic agents invitro than mycotuberculosis. Because of this the practical utility of treatment in clinical cases is poor.

Control the affected animal should be segregated and their faeces properly disposed off. Alive vaccine has been developed. It reduces the incidence of clinical disease. It consists of a non-pathogenic strain of jhone`s bacillus with an adjuvant. The calves soon after birth are inoculated with vaccine subcontaneously. The vaccinated animals become reactors of jhonin. Vaccination is generally done in heavily infected herds

𝐆𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐦 𝐌𝐮𝐣𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢 (H.O.D Department of Veterinary Pharmacology SBBUVAS) &𝐒𝐢𝐫. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫 . 5 Teams of doctors and students visited different Villages and done Vaccination of different viral & bacterial disease of livestock animals. Almost 𝟏𝟑𝟎𝟎+ animals were Vaccinated. کیڑوں کی وجہ سے خون کی کمی:-

تحریر سمیر عزیز:-
اس بات سے تو ہم سب واقف ہیں کہ جانوروں کے جسم کے اندر اور اوپر پائے جانے والے کیڑے کسی نہ کسی طرح جانوروں کو نقصان پہنچاتے رہتے ہیں اور مختلف بیماریوں کا سبب بنتے ہیں لیکن بعض اوقات یہ نقصان اس حد تک بڑھ جاتا ہے جسکا ازالہ ممکن نہیں رہتا ان میں سے ہی ایک بیماری bottle jaw ہے جسکی سمجھ بہت کم پائی جاتی ہے لوگ اس بیماری کو وائی بادی کی کوئی قسم یا کسی زہریلی چیز کے کاٹنے کا اثر سمجھ کر علاج کی کوشش کرتے ہیں اور ناکامی سے دوچار ہو کر جانور کا نقصان کرا بیٹھتے ہیں جبکہ اس بیماری کا،علاج ممکن ہے۔ یہ بیماری خاص طور پر 1 کیڑے باربر پول وارم barber pole worm کی وجہ سے وجود میں آتی ہے، یہ کیڑا جانور کے معدے کے چوتھے خانے abomasum کے اندر پایا جاتا ہے اور جانور کا خون چوس کر اپنی خوراک حاصل کرتا ہے۔ یہ کیڑا زیادہ تر نم آب وہوا کی وجہ سے پیدا ہوتا ہے اور اس کے لاروے جانور کی خوراک کے ساتھ معدے میں جا کر چپک جاتے ہیں اور جوان ہونے تک جانور کے خون سے پرورش پاتے ہیں ایک جوان کیڑا 1 دن میں 10،000 تک انڈے دیتا ہے اور پھر یہ سلسلہ چلتا رہتا ہے ان کیڑوں کے اتنی بڑی تعداد میں خون چوسنے سے جانور کے جسم میں خون کی کمی واقع ہونا شروع ہوجاتی ہے اور جبڑوں کے نچلے حصے میں یہ سوجن ٹشوز میں پیدا ہونےوالی خون کی کمی کی صورت میں ظاہر ہوتی ہے اور یہ سوجن بوتل کی شکل اختیار کر لیتی ہے اس وجہ سے اس بیماری کو bottle jaw disease کہتے ہیں۔ اگر ایسے جانور کا بروقت اور صحیح علاج نہ کیا جائے تو جانور خون کی شدید کمی کی وجہ سے موت کا شکار ہوجاتا ہے۔

علامات:-
جانور کے جبڑے کے نچلے حصے سے سوجن شروع ہو کر گردن تک جانا، جانور کا سست ہوجابا، جانور میں غنودگی سی پیدا ہونا، آنکھوں کا بے رونق لگنا، آنکھ کے اندر کے حصے کا نارمل کلر کا نا ہونا یا پیلا سا کلر ہونا، بعض اوقات ڈاہریا کا ہو جانا، کھال کی چمک کا ختم ہونا، وزن کا گرنا، خوراک کا چھوڑ دینا،وغیرہ اہم علامات ہیں۔

علاج:-
جیسے ہی اس بیماری کی علامات ظاہر ہوں فوری طور پر خون چوسنے والے کیڑوں کے تدارک کیلیے ڈیورمنگ کرائی جائے جس کیلیے ivomec ایک اچھی آپشن ہے اس کے بعد vit B12 inj 2cc روز 1 سے 2 ہفتے تک اس کے ساتھ وٹامن بی کمپلیکس سیرپ 10 ملی لیٹر روز 1 سے 2 ہفتے تک اور انجیکشن آئرن ڈیکسٹران 2سی سی 5 دن لگانا اس بیماری کا،ایک اچھا علاج ثابت ہوتا ہے۔

احتیاطی تدابیر:-
جانوروں کو وقت پر کرم کش (ڈی ورمنگ) ادویات کا،استعمال کریں، جانوروں کی کھرلیوں کی صفائی ستھرائی پر توجہ مرکوز رکھیں، کھرلیوں میں نمی نا پیدا ہونے دیں، منرلز وغیرہ کا خوراک کے ساتھ مناسب استعمال یقینی بنائیں۔

ہر علاج سے پہلے مرض کی صحیح تشخیص ہی جانوروں کی مینیجمنٹ کا سب سے اہم حصہ ہے۔ اس لیے علاج سے پہلے جانور کی تشخیص کرائیں تاکہ کامیاب علاج ممکن ہوسکے

🛑Acetonaemia (Ketosis)🛑

✅Ketosis is a metabolic disorder that occurs in cattle when energy demands (e.g. high milk production) exceed energy intake and result in a negative energy balance. Ketotic cows often have low blood glucose (blood sugar) concentrations.

✅When large amounts of body fat are utilised as an energy source to support production, fat is sometimes mobilised faster than the liver can properly metabolise it. If this situation occurs, ketone production exceeds ketone utilisation by the cow, and ketosis results.

✅In the BEEF cow, this is most likely to occur in late pregnancy when the cow's appetite is at its lowest and the energy requirement of the growing calf near its peak.

✅In the DAIRY cow, the mismatch between input and output usually occurs in the first few weeks of lactation, because the cow is not able to eat enough to match the energy lost in the milk.

🛑Symptoms🛑

📍Reduced milk yield
📍Weight loss
📍Reduced appetite
📍Dull coat
📍Acetone (pear drop) smell of breath/ or milk
📍Fever

✅Some develop nervous signs including excess salivation, licking, agression etc.
✅For every cow with clinical signs there are probably a number of others with sub-clinical signs.

🛑Treatment🛑
✅The initial aim of treatment is to restore the lack of glucose in the body.

✅A quick-acting glucose supplement is required immediately. Follow-up treatment is aimed at providing a long term supply of glucose.

📌Glucose replacement📌

✅Intravenous administration of a dextrose solution by a veterinarian is effective in the short term, but follow-up treatment is essential if relapses are to be avoided.

✅Drenching with propylene glycol or glycerine has longer term effects. It also has the benefit of ease of administration. Treatment should be continued for two to four days. Several commercial compounds contain propylene glycol and glycerine.

📌Hormonal therapy📌

Many of the long-acting corticosteroids have beneficial effects in ketosis. They are administered by the veterinarian as a single injection.

Corticosteroids have the ability to break down protein in muscles to produce glucose, which immediately replenishes the depressed blood glucose levels.

When using corticosteroids, it is important to supply an adequate amount of glucose either as a high carbohydrate diet and/or propylene glycol drenches to prevent excessive breakdown of muscle protein.

🛑Prevention🛑
✅It is important to prevent ketosis from occurring, rather than treating cases as they appear.

✅Prevention depends on adequate feeding and management practices.

✅In times of feed deficiency because of drought or other reasons, the provision of supplementary feed with adequate amounts of carbohydrate is essential. The best feeds tend to be good quality hay, silage, or cereal grain.

✅The body condition of the dairy cow is important at calving. Cows should be on a rising plane of nutrition up to calving with the aim to calve in good condition.

✅After calving, the cow has the potential to reach maximum efficiency in milk production, but feed requirements for high production are often greater than the voluntary intake of pasture can provide.

✅Therefore an energy supplement is required and there is evidence that this will improve production and reproductive performance, and decrease the risk of ketosis. The best supplements are good quality hay, silage, or cereal grains. Supplements should be fed at least until the peak of lactation is reached or longer depending on the quality and quantity of available pasture.

✅Occasionally, very high-producing cows will be susceptible to ketosis every year. In these cases a preventive drenching program of propylene glycol immediately after calving may avert ketosis in individual problem cows.
