LOCATION: 107C CANBERRA ST
(Level 2 staircase landing)
COLOR: SOLID GINGER (Body)

First of all.... Let us pray that this is not an abandonment 🤲!!!

Had been alerted by one of the resident at 107C. at 02:30pm. According to founder, she saw this cat at around 6 this morning. Cat was still there when her daughter is off to work at 02:15pm.

We went over to location at 04:26pm.Cat looks scared and his whole body is visibly shaking.. We believed it's a male. Not sure if cat is injure as we wouldn't allowed to touch anymore soon after when we managed to pat him for a few seconds. A lil' sniff here and there at our carrier, and he walked in by himself.

Cat is well fed. And we think that cat might had been recently revo'ed as per what we had noticed on his fur at the back of his neck.

Cat is secured and we had taken him back for further monitoring.

OWNER PLEASE COME FORWARD IF THIS IS YOUR CAT WITH PROOF OF OWNERSHIP.

PS: please don't ask me how I walk with my injury!!

We are thankful for the concern netizens feel towards the trapped cat. We would also like to take the opportunity to address a few questions that have been asked.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗣𝗖𝗔?

The SPCA does not have the authority or equipment to be able to access the area to rescue the cat which is on the rooftop of a private property. In such cases, we have to rely on the assistance of the authorities to conduct rescues.

We understand that the authorities are exploring the safest means to rescue the cat and are in contact with the feedback provider and the condo management.

During our visits to Petain Court, we spoke to residents of the apartment to find out more details. Residents had cited that there were a few cats in the area who regularly play on the rooftop and have always found their way back down for food during the day.

The SPCA was alerted to a case involving a cat that has been stuck on the roof of Petain Court.

Our Rescue Officers have been down twice (on 13 and 14 March) to check on the situation, and speak to residents of the apartment. The authorities have been alerted to the incident and we have since passed on all relevant information to them. We understand that the authorities are closely monitoring the situation and determining the next course of action.

We urge members of the public to not attempt a rescue on you own for yours and the cat's safety. Anyone with additional information can reach out to us at [email protected].

You may have come across the news about a badly injured black and white cat believed to have been abused at Ang Mo Kio on 27 December 2021. The cat in question, Socks, has been rescued and is being provided with medical care through the network of caregivers and feeders in her community.

We are relieved to report that AVS has arrested a man believed to be connected to the case on 29 December 2021 evening. Investigations are ongoing and they have requested the public to allow the investigations to run their proper course.

The speed of arrest in this case shows us the importance of quickly making a report to the relevant authorities, having or providing sufficient evidence (photographic and/or video-graphic) and having a dedicated investigation and enforcement team looking into animal-related matters to investigate such reports.

We hope that this case will serve as a reminder on the importance of remaining vigilant against acts of cruelty whether it is in the community or even in homes. Please contact AVS through their hotline / feedback form to report acts of cruelty and inform us via email so that we can also assist you.
