NOVA Equestrian Center (NEC) / NOVA Equine Fitness Center (NEFC), a 37-horse equestrian facility in Aldie, Virginia, is dedicated to delivering top-notch care, conditioning, and rehabilitation services for a specific group of horses owned by a single entity. The entire facility and operations are fully committed to successfully supporting this client and their critical mission. The facility includes an equine water treadmill, oscillating/vibrating floor, solarium, 60' exercise walker, and indoor and outdoor arenas.

The facility employs a large team. There is a separate team responsible for the daily care requirements of the horses such as turnout, stall cleaning, shavings, hay distribution, and ensuring water availability, among other tasks.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:
• Prepare horses for and observe horses during fitness center sessions
• Safe operation of fitness center equipment
• Keep the fitness center and its equipment safe, clean, organized, and maintained
• Place horses on exercise hot walker
• Assist with rehab exercises (hand walking, lungeing, laser application, etc)
• Assist with general medical care such as administering medications, wound care, and leg wraps
• Preparation of daily supplements and nutrition rations as required
• Ability to safely move horses within and among all aspects of the equestrian center
• Conduct daily health and wellness checks
• Prepare and receive horses for travel
• Assist with detailed and frequent record keeping of horse care and activities
• Support other team members in the fitness center and barn.

NOVA Equestrian Center (NEC), a 35-horse facility in Aldie, Virginia, is dedicated to delivering top-notch care, conditioning, and rehabilitation services for a specific group of horses owned by a single entity. The entire facility and operations are fully committed to successfully supporting this client and their critical mission.

We are currently in search of a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to manage and execute responsibilities at the crossroads of veterinary care, equine fitness and rehabilitation, and general horse care. It's important to note that this position is not a riding position. There is a separate team responsible for the daily care requirements of the horses, such as turnout, stall cleaning, shavings, providing hay nets, and ensuring water availability, among other tasks.

This position differs from the traditional veterinary technician role typically found in hospitals, clinics, or mobile units. Instead, it's a hybrid role that combines aspects of a licensed technician, fitness and rehabilitation technician, and patient manager. It requires continuous and consistent collaboration with our barn team to coordinate, schedule, and manage the horses in our facility.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with other team members to ensure the daily use and availability of horses for various aspects of the program.
- Providing support and assistance to on-site veterinarians.
- Conducting basic horse exams, including monitoring vital signs (TPR) and performing body checks.
- Administering necessary medical treatments and proficiently administering equine medications (IV, IM, PO, nebulized).
- Demonstrating proficiency in sedation (IV and IM), bandaging, and preparing/administering oral medications.
- Coordinating and managing the in-house quarantine program in conjunction with the Staff Veterinarian, Dr. Jay Joyce, for incoming or sick horses.
- Reviewing rehab and fitness records and implementing fitness and rehab plans.
- Managing and administering reconditioning and rehabilitation modalities.
- Operating the water treadmill and overseeing all aspects of our fitness programs.
- Supporting other team members in the fitness center and barn.
- Participating in ongoing learning and gaining experience through periodic work with a local ambulatory practice (closely affiliated with Total Equine Veterinary Associates).

Go, Spring, Go! 🌞🌻🫡
NEC is just too beautiful to keep to ourselves!

The horses and pastures are doing great as we continue to make improvements.

The new fencing has weathered enough and painting is in progress. Check out the pictures.

Power to the north end of the property is also in progress. This will provide steady power to the North Shed, various recepticals along the middle road (maybe night lights), and a possible electric gate(s). NOVEC is trimming the trees back for a discreet power line hidden along the tree line. And some poles erected.

The farm garden is starting to produce.

Time to go fishing in the pond. 🌞🎣

More Fencing!!

To accomodate even more NOVA Equine Fitness Center horses, we've moved ahead plans to fence the southeast corner. Now even more rehab/reconditioning/fitness boarded horses have access to green pastures during their stay. Besides a good workout, horses get some sunshine R&R and spa-like experience.

It's the little things.

A longer driveway: We've extended the drive-in entrance at the North gate to about a 190'. Now there's a way to pull off of Route 15 safely - enough for a couple large horse trailer rigs. Eventually we will get an electric gate here.

We've set out 12 picnic tables around the property. Various places to sit and enjoy a restful moment. Chill. Enjoy.

The 8 frost-free automatic waterers are installed. Every outside grass pasture has access. Both the horses and horse care team are super happy.

And it springtime on the farm so we had to put some pictures in here.

An Equine Fitness Center Assistant follows the direction of the Fitness Center Technicians to ensure Fitness Center horses are properly prepared for and observed during a fitness session. Assistants are critical to appointments running on time, efficiently, and safely.

📌 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏 𝑬𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑭𝒊𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒅𝒐?
Assistants will fetch horses from barn or owners’ trailers, prepare horses for sessions (picking feet, washing legs, diaper, and tail wrapping), load horses on machines, and observe horses while in session. Assistants may also move horses to/from stalls to medical paddocks for limited turnout, place horses on the exercise walker, and help with some rehab exercise, like hand walking. Assistants will keep the Fitness Center clean and organized.

📌 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅:
Fitness Center Assistants will primarily be handling horses, and must have good handling experience. We'll teach everything necessary to run the Fitness Center equipment!

Approximately 16-32 hours a week at our Aldie, VA equestrian center, with hours primarily between 9am and 5pm. Pay is based on experience, and starts at $16 to $18 per hour.

Performance to the Max!

It was an informative and eye-opening night for the 50+ attendees of Tuesday night's Fitness Center demo/talk and Performance Horse Nutrition Seminar presented by Triple Crown/Southern States.

Selected as the ideal venue to host this combo performance-nutrition presentation, NEC and NEFCs commitment to holistic horse health, fitness, reconditioning, and rehabilitation under the perview of experienced veterinarians is setting a new standard for available care.

Not to be outdone, NEC's outdoor arena just recieved a footing upgrade on par with our indoor arena.

Significantly upgraded now with an all-weather sand and fiber mix - we're ready to rock and roll.

Rider feedback is already phenomenal! It's not too hard, it's not too soft, it's not too deep -even the most discriminating "Princess and the Pea" will approve.

NEC is a premier riding facility combined with an equine fitness and rehab center. This position is approximately 90% equestrian center management and 10% fitness center involvement.

🙂 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺!
NEC currently has a staff of three full-time horse care providers, a full-time facility manager, a full-time fitness center manager, and a part-time fitness center technician, but 𝙬𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 to lead our team and foster a harmonious and drama-free environment!

🔹 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
1. Horse care and barn management,
2. Customer service and administrative duties, and
3. Business development

1️⃣ 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
• Manage barn of of approximately 30 horses and several in-house fitness/rehab horses, including:
• Oversee daily care (feeding, blanketing, turn-out schedules, health care, horse checks) and prepare daily grain, supplements, and medications
• Manage the purchase of horse feed, hay, shavings, supplies, and equipment
• Coordinate manure bin removal
• Assist with veterinary/farrier visits
• Manage lesson and arena scheduler, including in-house and haul-in requests for arena use
• Coordinate closely with the fitness center and occasionally run 2-3 horses through fitness center sessions

2️⃣ 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
• Uphold the highest standards of customer service, client communications, and organization, including:
• Proactive, clear communication with clients for pertinent barn-related activities such as changes in daily routine due to weather or other circumstances, and general updates
• Timely responses to emails, calls, and texts from boarders, fitness center clients, and potential new clients
• Money management including monthly invoicing and collection of boarding fees (plus incidental or additional charges), creating boarding contracts and fitness contracts, collection of payments due to NEC/NEFC
• Communicate with facility owners
• Participate in and contribute to management meetings

3️⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
• Create and host events with clinicians
• Coordinate and host local schooling shows and other equestrian-related events
• Represent NEC/NEFC through participation in local equine industry events

🔸 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
• Confident team player
• Exceptional attention to detail

• Moderate computer knowledge (MS Word, email, etc.)

• Multi-disciplinary experience in horse show and clinic management
• Social media experience and ability to create content for Facebook and Instagram

💲 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀:
The salary for this position is $25-$28 per hour. Available benefits include medical/dental insurance, IRA, 12 days PTO, overtime for extra hours and holidays, and continuing education opportunities. Salary and benefits are negotiable and dependent on experience.

Despite the cold and wind, the atmosphere was warm with an awesome group of riders and horses.

With more than 100 trips around the arena, local riders made good use of the indoor arena and really enjoyed each other's company.

Enormous kudos to 'organizer extraordinaire' Brooke, the always reliable and organized Alexa, and even Anna on her day off came in to help. Manuel and the guys kept things rolling behind the scenes. What a great team!

NOVA Equestrian Center (NEC) is pleased to invite riders of all levels to prepare for the 2023 show season at our upcoming indoor schooling shows.

🔹 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 🔹

🐴 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙨:
Rounds will be offered at a range of class heights starting at ground poles, increasing at 3 inch increments, going up through 4’. Each class height can be ridden more than once, and there will be 2 courses (black/white) per class height. Riders can ride at multiple class heights. The first round/course (black/white) at each class height ridden is judged and will count towards placings. Placings will be offered 1st through 6th.

💲 $𝟰𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱. 𝗘𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Schooling will be offered in the indoor arena from 7:30-8:30 am @ ground pole height ONLY. NEC’s outdoor ring will be available to school and warm up. If the weather does not allow schooling/warming up in the outdoor ring, then short schooling breaks will be offered prior to each class height. The show will start promptly @ 9am.

✏️ 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱!
Entries will close the Wednesday prior to each show. A copy of current Coggins and liability release form must be included with registration.

🌟 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙉𝙀𝘾:
Shows will be held in our newly renovated 180x100 indoor arena with world class sand/fiber footing. We use the same footing as Swan Lake, Washington International Horse Show, Virginia Horse Center, Harrisburg, and the Upperville C**t & Horse Show Grounds. Our indoor arena is outfitted with show quality jumps, a dedicated viewing area, a heated lounge, and a state-of-the-art sound system.

Outstanding clinic with the impressive Bernie Traurig. A great group of riders, horses, auditors, and friends came together to create a very memorable and engaging weekend on many levels.

The greatest positive energy in the air for the entire weekend. It was impossible to leave without several gems of wisdom whether attending as one of the 24 riders, the riders' +1s, or the 47 auditors.

A highlight was the dinner hosted by NEC on Saturday night for all the riders inside NEFC's heated and comfortable space. We set tables and chairs and food and drinks as Bernie told stories, engaged in active conversations about training and thoroughbreds, showed a 35 minute video highlighting 30 years of sucessful performance TB development in the US, and another short video on his competition highlights- specifically noting some good and bad rider decisions.

We have updated our website so you may find it easier to access information and select services.

The previous site was built on hope, projections, and speculation of how we would likely operate. Initially, the facility was in disarray so site photographs were not used as they did not represent what we wanted to project. Our web designer did great with what little we had.
