Affectionately known as “Malley” around the barn. Malley has the personality that everyone wants to have in the barn. He’s a goofy Labrador type that wants to hang out with the humans. He’s great for the farrier and good all around ground manners. Leave him in the washrack for ages or tack him up in his stall; leave him out 24/7 or let him have some inside time. He’s just happy to be included.
Undersaddle Malley has his own motor but is not a flight risk. He can some goofy baby moments but has shown his talent and athleticism time and time again! Malley is currently showing in Starter (2’3”) eventing with a Beginner Novice move up very soon on the horizon. He is bold in the cross country field and has schooled all the BN fences with ease and even some Novice with a junior rider. Tables, coops, banks, ditches, half coffin, no problem!
Malley is a good egg, but he is his best self with a confident but quiet rider. He is not beginner or advanced beginner ready. Maybe some day though, as he has good brain! The teens at my barn adore him and do well piloting him. I could see him loving an ambitious teen, a confident adult ammy to fawn over him, or a pro to take him up levels.
While I am enjoying eventing him, I do think Malley would thrive in the jumper ring. He has scope and athleticism for days. He’s catty and powerful, but easy to adjust. He can even be rhythmic enough for a hunter to enjoy. I think he would just love to continue his over fences education.
