Aero got the best home! ππ
π‘
I am so thrilled for him and also his new family. Waiting on pics.
I have an Android and I think they must have an iPhone because this video is terrible on my phone , but you get the idea. He's just miserable.π
"I don't want to."
- Aero
(SOLD)
Don't hate me because I'm beautiful!
Beautiful, sweet Aero π§‘
See, folks? He's not smooth π
Aero needs a home. I could write a book about the bizarre happenings this poor pup has been in the middle of in the search for his perfect home. I don't know what it is about him that attracts the strangest of the strange, but he needs a sane, kind owner.
I will make someone a really good deal who can offer him a great pet home with references. His tail curls too far over his back and kind of double curls since he injured it in a dog door, and he is pretty heavily patterned and I think that will become more apparent as he matures. Makes coat care a breeze, but not great for the show ring.
He is kind, calm, doesn't cause any problems with other animals, doesn't climb or dig or bark excessively- a gentleman all around!
Both parents OFA'd imports. Please message privately for more info. He is located in IL but I am hosting a training seminar April 22-23 and have some travelers that could potentially bring him South afterwards.
Please share.
WHY does he do this? ππ€
On left, "normal" Atlas (definitely a stretch to call him normal in any fashion, at any time)
On right, how he ALWAYS sits when seated for more than 10 seconds.
Atlas π
We didn't realize TSC changed their hours right after Christmas and closed an hour early, so we had to do the walk of retail shame with a wet hound. π¬π«£
Amira continues to do fantastic in her new π‘. From her new owner:
"She is doing amazing still. She is my little shadow. Where I go she goes. If I sit, she gets on the couch and tries to wedge in behind me. She rests her head on my shoulders. I am completely in love with her."
So happy for both these pups- littermates reunited! (One of the rare breeds where littermates living together isn't the most horrid idea ever!) Do you think they remember each other? π
Eisenherz Amira (teal collar) and Eisenherz Aristotle (Oliver, brown collar) together again.
Excuse the dark video, but it was dark out.π€·
Thank you Joni for your help transporting! Cannot wait to post Asher and Ayra's reunion tomorrow!
I wrote this in a group and had several requests to be able to share it, so I posted here.
"How much?"
Something to think about when inquiring on available dogs...
Any responsible, caring breed or seller or foster, etc. is going to be concerned with the kind of home you will provide their dog. This is a good thing, obviously, but it goes two ways. I think sometimes people forget that the person parting with the dog is more often than not, not a terrible person who just wants to be rid of the dog.
Usually, Afghans are available from a caring seller who wants assurance that the buyer is caring, too. We're not placing them because we don't care about them. We're placing them because we can't keep them all. We want them to find their perfect places and be happy.
Now, to my point- when inquiring about pups or dogs, it can be off-putting to simply message "How much?" and give zero information about who you are, what you're seeking, what you can provide the dog, etc. This has happened to me multiple times recently as I am seeking homes for 2 older male puppies. I posted their photos and a short biography- I took the trouble to tell the reader about who they are. Who their parents are. What health testing they've had. Where they're from. How they live currently. I have a whole page dedicated to info on their litter. I did all this so the buyer would know what kind of dog they are getting. It would be great if the prospective buyer would reciprocate and tell me what kind of home they will provide my pups going forward.
Basically, it's a little insulting to the breeder or seller who has taken the time to offer a lot of info, in that it appears you don't really care about the dog as much as the price when you simply say "How much?"
*Of course price is important, but it shouldn't be the first question, let alone the only question.*
Think of it a little like an interview- most of these available Afghans are not being dumped off to the first person to whip out their checkbook. We want loving homes for them. I don't think people realize when asking nothing but "How much" that it gives this negative impression.
Most of the time when I tell people I'd like to know about who they are and what they can offer my pups, they are more than happy to talk about it- they genuinely didn't realize I would want to know that up front before even discussing price. These are typically not bad homes- they just don't know how breeders/sellers think, so I thought I would post a reminder that we care about these dogs very much and it goes a long way to introduce yourself beyond asking price when asking us to consider placing a dog with you.
It takes only seconds longer to introduce yourself and give a brief rundown of your living situation, ask if our pups might be a fit, and if so, how much are we asking. It's just good manners, too.
Most of the time, we are all these dogs have ever known and they are completely relying on us to do a good job picking their future owners.
Food for thought...
Hounds in Hats, a Compilation: Part 3- Aero
Calm and sweet, medium sized, should stay on the smaller side. Good with all dogs, cats and kids.
Coat is super sleek and easy. Pasterns are getting cleaner all the time and he has a very clean saddle already. Never had monkey whiskers. I think he will end up patterned.

Hounds in Hats, a Compilation - Part 1: Amira
Amira says she will bring her hat to her forever home if her new family finds it as amusing as we do.
Mira just turned 1 and has potential for many things. A VERY sweet little girl, she is priced very low to a companion-only home, but breeding homes are also welcome to apply so long as they understand they will be screened thoroughly. She will NOT go to anyone who crossbreeds or does not do the minimum health testing.
Mira is from imported, health certified parents.
For those wondering about the coat on orange collar male (Aero), here he is. He has a super clean saddle coming in already and his face never had any monkey whiskers. But, as I swore early on in the face of some opposition, he is not smooth.
Yes, his coat is a mess. They all are. Nothing but rain here lately and no, I don't brush them all daily. π€·ββοΈ
IN HER FOREVER HOME β€οΈπ‘
Available in Northern Illinois USA πΊπΈ
Female whelped 12-18-21 from OFA certified parents (hips, eyes and thyroid). Both imported from Europe. Excellent temperament. Good with kids, dogs and cats. Amira is a highly energetic girl who loves to run and play, but can cuddle on the couch when she's done. Typical Afghan character- she has ideas and opinions and her ideal owner possesses a sense of humor. π

Yellow boy is a lovely, breed-typical boy who would fit in most places. He would prefer another dog to play with.

It has taken me way too long to post this picture. This is Amara, now Ayra, formerly aka broken leg puppy, meeting her new family for the first time. They drove all the way from Colorado to Illinois to pick her up. They wanted her, not because she was broken, but because she was Amara.
I was so soured by her horrible experience that I didn't even want to sell her siblings. I still have too many of her siblings, actually. π€¦ββοΈ
But, this happy ending and the brown collar little boy also having a happy ending reminds me why I bred this litter in the first place.
Thank you so much to Joni Stevens and her family. π
I finally don't have to worry about her. π
Great opportunity for those picking up pups soon to get their food at a discount while supporting a great cause.
Amara has officially found her place! π
I couldn't be happier for her- it's a wonderful home. Congratulations to her new family. π

So much trouble...
These pups are hysterical. They're so funny in a group I hate to sell them (yes, I know I need to sell them.π)
My first escapee from the 6yr old puppy yard was an Afghan Hound instead of a German Shepherd. And people think Afghans are dumb. π€
