Hobbs is a great family oriented kitty, he is about 8 years old and grew up around dogs and cats. He does not do well with hyper dogs. He is very sweet and cuddly and even sits well for a bath! Please help us find a furever home for him!

Who doesn’t like donuts and dogs! The Windsor Heights Hy-Vee is donating 10 cents for every donut purchased in August to us! We will also be there with dogs on August 20th from 10 to 2 pm. Come and meet our volunteers and adoptables! Thank you Hy-Vee for thinking of us!!

MICROCHIP CLINIC MAY 21, 2022

Our next drive-up microchip clinic will take place on May 21, 2022, from 8am-11am at the Ames Water Treatment Plant, 1800 E 13th St. We have a total of 60 cat and 60 dog spots available.

Microchips are just $10, which includes lifetime registration. Staff will implant the microchip and handle all the registration for you. You just need to get them to the event!

This microchip clinic is for Ames residents ONLY. To apply, please visit www.CityofAmes.org/Microchip. This allows us to verify your residency and also helps minimize paperwork on the day of the event. Once staff has processed your application, you will be able to sign up!

We have an associate foster who is searching for a home for a pup! Here is what they have to say about him. Please like and share! If you know anyone who is interested please contact our page. We are based out of Story County, Iowa and would love for you to meet him!

This is Diesel, born February 21, 2020. He is a german shepard mixed breed. He deserves a home in which will give him what he needs to thrive. He does well with children but he doesn’t know his size and plays a little rough so I’d suggest a home with older children, though that’s not a must. He is good with other dogs but likes to be the boss so another dominant dog wouldn’t be the best friend for him. He has a very high prey drive and therefore I would highly suggest no small animals in the home. He chases just about anything that moves including cars and bikes which can get him in to a bit of trouble so continued training is a must. He knows his basic commands like sit, lay down, paw, stay, and come. He is happiest around his people. He'd make a great shop dog or in a home with lots of activity!

Just a reminder that this sweet boy, Cody, is still available for adoption. He is currently in an admin office as the loud hustle and bustle of the shelter is a little too much for him. He LOVES hangin' in the office though! After a couple days of checking the place out, he now begs for attention and hangs out on the desk while we work away! He would be a GREAT candidate for someone with a low-key home that is looking for a snuggle buddy to lounge with 😻

These cats need our help! Rescuers here in Iowa work hard on their own time with their own dollar and need as much support as they can get. Please consider donating to help these 9 cats get the veterinary care they need, even a few dollars helps.

If you are interested in adopting, you can fill out an application online to be pre-approved. We will have applications available to fill out at the event. To be approved on site, please bring current vet records. Also, if you rent, we will need a document stating that animals are allowed at your residence.

The adoption fee is $30 cash or check.

Success! The brown tabby is going home today and the grey tuxedo is going home tommorrow!! We are so thrilled we found two loving homes for these sweet babies.
