A bit over a year ago this young woman joined my Fissan Training Kennels team. She had some dog training experience but was looking to get more experience. When my staff start work at my shop I require them to watch or participate in a 6-week beginner obedience class. This is for two reasons; one so they understand basic dog behavior with training and two to help them in their daily work at my shop. Miranda did not have a dog of her own at the time and wanted to participate. Ms Phoenix was the perfect candidate. She had completed her show career and I had chosen not to breed. It was time for her to start her obedience career. A match made at Fissan. Miranda took Phoenix through a beginner class, intermediate class, canine good citizen class, and now is working on therapy dog with Phoenix. Now and then if the right home comes around I will place some of my retired dogs. I don't advertise this and only a few chosen people get this opportunity. Today Miranda and Phoenix became not only friends but family. Phoenix will be not only Miranda's partner in class but her partner in life. I will be able to see Phoenix daily as she'll be coming with Miranda to work. I am so thankful for those who choose to love my Fissan dogs. It allows me to continue the sport I love showing dogs as well as the opportunity to continue preserving this wonderful breed the American Eskimo.
