Doctors:
William Hemmer, DVM
Dr. Hemmer received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia, where he obtained Bachelors degrees in both Biology and Poultry Science. Dr.Hemmer is the managing partner of the Arnold Veterinary Hospital. Deborah Christine Leigh, VMD
Dr.Leigh received her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She worked as a laboratory technician in a molecular biology lab at the Dental School of the University of Pennsylvania from 1991-1994. She completed her undergraduate studies at Penn State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a vertebrate physiology option. Dr.Leigh has been with the Arnold Veterinary Hospital since 2000. Sarah Mainardi-Wilds, DVM
Dr. Sarah Mainardi-Wilds earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from University of Delaware. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2013, Dr. Mainardi-Wilds spent time practicing mixed animal medicine in rural North Carolina. In 2015, she moved to Maryland, where she continued practicing mixed animal medicine at Chestertown Animal Hospital. Dr. Mainardi-Wilds continues to enjoy working on the large animals in her spare time when she’s not at the small animal clinic. She currently lives on the Eastern Shore, in Chestertown with her husband, Marc, two dogs (Rosie and Chance), two cats (Sage and Bonkers), and numerous fresh and saltwater fish. Stephanie Stieler, DVM
Dr.Stieler joined the professional staff at the Arnold Veterinary Hospital in July, 2010. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed ger undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida, with a degree in Biology. Prior to returning to Maryland, Dr.Stieler most recently practiced in Ohio. Our veterinary team also includes a capable and caring support staff who assist our doctors in providing state of the art care for your pet.

Can you find the yeast?

This is a dog's ear that is full of yeast causing discomfort in the ear canal. Ear infections can cause red inflammation, scratching, and shaking of the head. If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms please give us a call.

Happy National Cat Lady Day! We love our cat moms at our clinic. Starting with Maddy with her babies, Nova (4 1/2 yo), Salem (3 yo), and Casper (1 yo). Then we have Dr. Leigh and her baby Ben (7 yo). Finally, our CSR Lauren and her babies Socks (13 yo), Stormy (5 yo), and Gracie (2 yo).
