Not sure if your pet is chipped? We are here to help!

🔎 Check the Chip Day is here! 🔎
As veterinary professionals, you know that microchips can significantly increase the chances of being reunited with a lost pet. But a microchip is only effective if the registration info is UTD!

Help us recognize by making sure to remind your clients to update their microchip information, or taking a little bit of extra time to educate on the importance of microchipping. 🐶🐱

Our microchip lookup tool can assist in finding registration companies: https://hubs.li/Q02Lq6pB0

Today’s breed shout out.. Border Collies!

The Border Collie is a highly intelligent and athletic dog. Full of energy, they do best with having a job or task to do, but they can settle down for cuddles when the day is done. Border Collies are often medium sized, muscular but nimble, and have hallmarked almond “herding eyes”. Their coats can be rough or smooth and can come in a variety of colors. Although they are a generally healthy breed, the Border Collies can be known to have health conditions such as hip dysplasia, eye problems and chronic ear infections. There are two many types of coats that are common to the breed. The rough coat in medium in length and feathered, while the smooth coat is shorter and coarser. Both coats are a dense, weather resistant. Brushing is important to keep them from getting matts in their coat. The Border Collie is an extremely active, high-drive, energetic breed. They thrive when they have a job to do or with daily, vigorous exercise daily. They often excel in herding events, obedience, agility, rally and tracking competitions or sports such as flying disc. Mental stimulation will keep them happy!

Fun Fact!: The Border Collie was a cross between the Roman’s heavy-boned, large herding dog and the Viking’s smaller but more agile herding dog.

Meet Orville!

Orville is a 16 week old puppy who was just adopted into his furever home! He is a mixed breed and is the sweetest pup. He loved to snuggle with Dr. Lauer during his appointment. He was so brave during his vaccines and the cheesy lick mat was his favorite part!

Here is the answer to last weeks trivia question!

How many cats are in Carl Kahler’s ‘My Wife’s Lovers’ painting?

The answer is 42!

Below is a little history of the painting!
‘My Wife’s Lovers’ painting was commissioned in the late 1800’s by Kate Birdsall Johnson. The painting by Austrian painter Carl Kahler was completed in 1891 and showcases 42 of Johnsons Persian and Angora cats. It was once said that Johnson had over 300 cats on her estate in Sonoma California, although other reports say she had 50. They cats lived in luxury and had their own servants hired specifically to care for them. The 6 foot by 8.5 foot, 227 pound painting survived the devastating San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and last sold in 2015 for more than $800,000. ‘My Wife’s Lovers’ is one of the most celebrated paintings of felines in history.
