I want everyone to meet the 2 newest additions to the ALPHA Public Safety & Consulting K9 Team!

“Smokey Mountain” (goes by Smoke) is an 18 month old Vizla and is an explosives detection dog (EDD).We picked up Smoke in Virginia yesterday and he is adjusting to his new home with handler Julieanna Smith. They will be working various concerts and festivals throughout Atlanta over the next 7 months.

Next we have Ares (sounds like Aries). He is a 2.5 year old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mixed that we also picked up in Virginia. Ares is originally from Czechoslovakia and trained in Czech language. He is also an explosives detection dog. Ares already has 1 certification under his belt and is a veteran EDD.
Ares will be assigned to his handler this month so they can start the bonding process. They will also be working various concerts around the Atlanta area.

These 2 additions are a huge step in the direction that Alpha is taking. But the initial investment will reap huge rewards!

The Butts County Sheriff’s Office hosted a three-day K9 first responder/paramedic course Oct. 3-5 through Iron Dog K9 International of McDonough.

It's inconceivable what some people put in the mail! Butts County Sheriff’s Office K9 Niko, who is assigned to the US Post Office in Atlanta, sniffed out 5 kilos of m**h wrapped in cayenne pepper and Vicks v***r rub! It’s unbelievable the lengths to which criminals are trying to smuggle drugs. K9 units make a difference. Way to go, Niko!

After day 2 of class….

Niko has been in extensive narcotics odor detection training for almost 8 weeks-

I go to class with him starting on 2/27 so we can bond and learn each other’s movements and behaviors.

His trainer says Niko is a rock star that is developing into a great narc detection dog. She wants to put him on tracking as well.

Forgot to mention…. Niko is going to have a buddy when he gets home… my daughter just took a job as an explosives detection dog handler and is getting a chocolate lab named Jimmy…
