4th of July is coming..It is one of the most scary days for most animals.
Some reminders to help keep them safe:
Make sure they have license tags on their collars
Make sure they have contact info tags on their collars too.
Secure your yards.
Keep them inside and turn up the radio or TV to drown out the firecrackers.
Chip your dogs and cats. (If you dont believe in chipping, that is ok, but make sure they have information on them some how so that if they do get lost you can be reunited.)

Don’t buy fancy treats---save your money and possibly your fur baby's tummy. Some of those treats cause sensitive tummies to not play nice. Actually, most of the time, their own food will do the trick.

The safest and least expensive way to treat your pal, is to make your own or use their own regular dog kibbles. *recipe below

Before using any ingreds make sure you READ THE LABELS. Note, some items to be aware of:
- pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie pumpkin)
- cinnamon (NO nutmeg as it can be toxic to some dogs)
- peanut butter (READ YOUR LABLES: do NOT use peanut butter --or any food-- that contains Xylitol-it is toxic to dogs!)

Before feeding your best pal something new, always consult with your veterinarian to ensure the treats are suitable for your dog’s dietary needs and any potential allergies.

🐶 Homemade Doggie Nutty Nanner Bites 🐶
no oven needed / 15 mins / approx 20 chomps.

2 Ripe bananas
1/2 C unsalted peanut butter
1/4 C plain Greek yogurt
1 Tbs Honey
1/2 c old fashioned oats.....Optional:
1/4 c finely chopped carrots and/or blueberries

1. Begin by mashing the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until they reach a smooth consistency.

2 Add the peanut butter, Greek yogurt, and honey to the mashed bananas. Mix the ingredients together until you have a uniform mixture.

3. Gently stir in the old-fashioned oats to create a dough-like consistency. If you choose to include carrots and blueberries for added nutrition and flavor, fold them into the mixture at this point.

4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

5. Using a teaspoon or your hands, form small bite-sized portions of the mixture and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 1-2 hours or until the bites are firm.

Once the bites are frozen, transfer them to an airtight container or a ziplock bag and store them in the freezer. These treats are meant to be served cold--great for those hot summer days coming up!

Just a note on tennis balls.
The fuzz on those balls are like sand paper on your dog's teeth. The outer coating of a tennis ball is quite abrasive and can wear down a dog's teeth (called “blunting”), sometimes severely. After years of this kind of wear and tear, it may become so severe your dog's teeth get worn down to the gums.

Best practice is to find other throw toys. If you do choose to use a tennis ball to play with, do not let your dog "keep" the ball to chew on later. Put it away and only use it for a few tosses at a time.

We know kids and pups are cute together. We all love those family pictures.
Training is important to teach both of them how to interact with each other.

This is one of the better videos we have seen that show you how distressed this dog is in the situation.

Is it cute to see a little girl hug her dog? sure it is, but from the video, I would say the dog is not comfortable with this child..watch the warning signs..do not make your dog the bad guy. Stop a bad situation before it happens.

Teach children (and adults) to be aware of the signs.
Get training for you and your dog.
A well trained dog (and person) is a happy dog.. BOL

Baby, it's hot outside...
If it is hot for you, it's going to be extra-extra hot for your fur-covered pal. Think twice before hauling them out during peak hours.

Fact: (Old Farmers Almanac)
The hottest time is around 3 p.m. Heat continues building up after noon, when the sun is highest in the sky, as long as more heat is arriving at the earth than leaving. By 3 p.m. or so, the sun is low enough in the sky for outgoing heat to be greater than incoming.

Just a friendly reminder when out and about walking your furry pals. Take along a doggy doodie bag (or sandwich bag if you dont have a cute one on hand) and pick up your pup's snickers (aka POOP). Not only is this considerate of your fellow dog walkers but will also help to not spread buggies that may be in a sick dogs left overs. WE WUFF OOOOOOOOO!!!!
