Took a mid-day mental health break yesterday and hit Bull Creek. I let her off-leash for 20 minutes, with no other dogs around. I expected some limping afterwards, but none appeared. Yay! Followup with surgeon is this next Wednesday, where he'll give her a full exam and x-rays, then hopefully give us the green light for increased activity and play.

Found a nice and private dog launch.... ...until 15 minutes later when I noticed the man sitting in a lean chair in the bushes behind us. “Time to go!”

She’s not wanting to walk on the leg at all today, so we just hit the beach for some swimming. Once that leg got warmed up in the water, she was ready to chase squirrels on land.... but mean mom wouldn’t let her.

We hit the trail for a walk, but ended up finding a sandy beach area perfect for swimming - yay!

Slow and steady wins the recovery race.

Day 10 post-surgery, walking with almost no limp! Just out front for quick potties, as we aren’t allowed to start walks yet, but she’s ready! Follow up appt is Wednesday afternoon, so hopefully we’ll be cleared to begin official walks at that time. I have to use the harness now because she’s anxious to get active, and will try to run and/or do spins on the regular collar leash.

It’s been exactly a month since River did something to her knee, and the limping has been very minimal, especially these past few days. Today we threw caution to the wind and went on a hike, because we’re both going a little mental from the lack of activity. No limping on our adventure, but the real test will be how it feels after she wakes up from her nap. It’s always a delayed reaction limp. Cross your paws everyone!!

80F in Austin today. Back to the same swimming hole for swimming therapy. Such a bummer to not be able to run and play in this gorgeous weather!

What's this!?!? The only time River ever barks is when someone knocks on our door. Must be the cold front winding her up.

Playing fetch at the school because roving security guards are calling 3-1-1 on people who take their dog to the LARGE, WOODED OPEN FIELD THAT IS LITERALLY JUST SITTING THERE VACANT, and has been used by the community as an unofficial doggie meetup area for years. Assholes.

We got the band back together! Great pups, fantastic friends, and a beautiful October morning in nature. #happiness
