Few more openings
We have a few openings left for horse training this Summer. Colt starting, advanced training like finish work and cow work and even tune ups to knock the fresh off for Summer!
Books are open for 2024. Our list will fill fast! #horsetraining #coltstarting #utah #ranchhorse
Little John is a Morgan stud colt that was brought to us for a bit of a tune up and some finish work. He’s a lot less pushy, more polite and getting softer every day.

2 year old Gypsy Vanner cross first ride!
First ride
We just got the cutest little 2 year old Gypsy Vanner cross in. This is her first ride. Wish we could keep this one!
Miss Tinker is learning to move out! Much better than her last bucking video!
“Gift” a 2 year old Morgan
“Gift” is a 2 year old Morgan. Today we were working on softening her body, working on speed control and not rooting through her stops.
Miss Tinker came to us after another trainer in Axtell sent her back to her owners claiming she broke his saddle. We don’t know the circumstances or what happened in that situation. We would just like to say, please be aware that there is more than one trainer in Axtell when you hear things…
That being said, in our humble opinion, there is not a mean bone in her body. She just doesn’t know how to use her body, and how to go forward. Her bucking is her saying I don’t know what you want from me. We are excited to teach her and see where she is in 30 rides.
Third ride for miss Bonita as well. Mason helped redirect her feet and encouraged forward motion. Lots of shadows this time of night.
Gus is a bit on the small side and is young. This is his 3rd ride and Mason wanted to help. It worked out good because it’s easier on Gus’s young joints. As you can see at the beginning of the video they hit a major sticky spot. This spot was critical and would have major influence on his demeanor going forward. He wanted to be the boss. He tried everything from nipping, trying to rake him off on the fence and kicking his foot. The first half is muted only because he called him a not so nice name when he wrecked his knee on the fence 🙈
But they worked through it. Now Gus knows forward motion is the answer and by the end of the ride you can see how polite and responsive he became. Great ride for all involved ❤️☺️
Horses are a lot like children. Each handle school differently. Some had preparation before the first day. Some handle lessons better than others. Some are full of energy and can’t sit still. This mare is a bit stingy and impatient. She’s over-reacts at the smallest thing. Like the class drama Queen 🤣
Here’s hours worth of lessons shortened to a few minutes ☺️
Gus’s first ride! He handled it like a champ
Day one for Miss Blackie too (she doesn’t have a name as of yet 😉)
All new kids start with the basics- ground manners, flag work, learning the ropes. She’s a pretty thing!
Gus’s first day at school. Today’s lesson was about respect and boundaries. This is actually an improvement from the first 10 minutes. He tried to show his dominance by kicking out, striking, biting and running over the top of us. But he soon learned that was not acceptable behavior.
