Here is the AFTER video of Nemesis!!!! - Dr (Briney) O’Brien
Hi everyone! This is Dr. (Birney) O’Brien here! Wanted to share some cool information about my OWN cat. This is Nemesis, she is 16 years old and suffering with arthritis. I started her on the once monthly injection of Solensia (a new pain medicine for cats). It has been an AMAZING transformation! Just look at the videos and you’ll see what I mean.
Most older cats suffer from some degree of arthritis pain. Examples include: slower going up stairs, tentative to jump up or down, less playful and difficulty running. Keep in mind that cats will not vocalize or complain about their pain, so you have to look for these physical changes to know that they ARE in pain.
Up until now there have been no good options for long term pain control in cats. Other drugs can affect the kidneys or potentially have other side effects. ***And you cannot, and should NEVER, use human pain meds for cats. This can be deadly!**
Solensia uses monoclonal antibodies that act just like the cat’s antibodies to specifically target a molecules in the body that causes pain. Great safety studies and it is easily administered by your vet, once a month.
I don’t usually find myself on Facebook, so that just shows you how excited I am to see such progress with this medication. Of course it may not work for every cat, but definitely worth scheduling an appointment to get your kitty checked out and potentially try Solensia.
Give us a call if you have any questions! 🙂
