This is called Pyometra which is a infection inside the uterus of a female dog. This one was removed from a 5.6lb Chihuahua yesterday and we also removed the same thing from a female cat. These animals were lucky to have made it to us in time but there was 1 that did not. Please get your female dog or kitty scheduled to be spayed so they don’t have to go through this and put their life at risk. Their life literally depends on YOU!!!

Today is World Spay Day! Here at FACE we celebrate spay/neuter and its many benefits every day, and today we want to highlight how important it is for everyone to have access to spay/neuter services, regardless of financial barriers. We strive to keep our prices affordable, while maintaining the highest quality of care. Our fees are hundreds of dollars below a full-service veterinary clinic, but we know what is truly financially feasible is different for each of us and changes during our lives. That is why years ago, we established the Client Assistance Fund. This fund buffers costs for anyone that needs them, no questions asked. Last year alone, we discounted $34,000 for spay/neuter assistance.

Today, in honor of World Spay Day, we ask you to make a contribution to the spay/neuter portion of our Client Assistance Fund. Spay it forward to help someone who may not be able to afford the full cost. We know spay/neuter is important to many of you, so let's make sure more pets can benefit from this life-saving surgery, regardless of any financial barriers their loving family member may be experiencing. Happy World Spay Day!

E-Collar donations needed!

We are asking for gently used e-collar donations, of any size, to help people in our community who may need one for their pet after a spay/neuter surgery.

There are many assistance programs that help with the cost of the surgery itself but do not help with the cost of e-collars, which may be necessary for some animals to prevent them from licking their incision.

If a pet licks their incision, it could cause and infection, open the incision, or both, which will result in more medical costs that the owner may not be able to afford.

An e-collar can be just as lifesaving as the surgery itself.

Donations can be dropped off during open hours at PetSmart on IN38 in Lafayette.

An e-collar is short for Elizabethan collar and is otherwise known as a "cone" or "the cone of shame". And e-collar is not a "shock" collar, or a collar associated with an electric fence.

Are you driven to care for dogs and cats in need, engage in on-the-job skills development, connect with community development initiatives, and enjoy being part of a supportive work environment? FACE is expanding our team and looking for client support representatives, a Human Resources Coordinator, veterinary assistants, nurses, and doctors to join our staff! We are also hiring a student intern with fundraising and communications interests to work on our Community Impact Team. We are growing our ability to meet the needs of our high-quality, high-volume clinic and are looking for dedicated individuals to support our mission of providing affordable veterinary access to all.

Our employees have this to say about working at FACE.

“I’ve always had a passion for animals and FACE allows me to pursue that passion and further myself in the field with many learning opportunities.” - Rebeca (Vet Assistant)

“I love working at FACE, because it’s hard to find people that care and have the same devotion you do. When I came to FACE, I found that care and devotion. I now have the opportunity to work for the most caring, understanding, and well-run organization.” - Aubrie (Vet Assistant)

“I love working at FACE because I feel welcomed and I love our mission of helping pets and community cats.” - Liz (Vet Assistant)

“I’ve stayed at FACE for as long as I have because of the people I work with. The environment here is very welcoming and I’m doing something I have a passion for. I’m helping my community and I get to hang out with all the puppies and kittens I care for.” - Ramiro (Vet Assistant)

We offer a four-day work week (plus one to two rotating Saturdays per month), the opportunity to grow with a corresponding tiered pay scale and monthly training sessions, VTNE assistance, generous paid holidays and paid time off, and a strong work culture. Ultimately, we provide the opportunity and support to do important work and have a good time doing it.

See our webpage listings - https://faceanimalclinic.org/about/ - for more information and to submit a resume.

We need your help!

Asking for help does not come easy for us. We hate to have to pull on heart strings and ask for support to help our pups in need, but look at these faces (our heart strings were immediately pulled, too.) They are in need and we intend to give them the vet care they deserve.

Both pups, Holly (mixed breed sweetie on the left) and Eleanor (Boxer baby on the right) were unclaimed strays who are now in foster care. Unfortunately, they both came with injuries that were checked out by a vet and BOTH are facing leg amputation surgeries. We are looking to raise $1600 for the total cost of their procedures.

Both pups will be available for adoption once recovered from their surgeries. If you have it in your heart and in your finances to spare just a bit to go towards these precious little souls, please help us help our community pups in need.

Donations can be made several ways. Click on the link below to donate through Facebook. Visit our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/helping or in person donations can be made at Wea Animal Hospital under our Pawswap of Greater Lafayette account. If you would like to mail a check, please send us a message! Thank you for your love and ongoing support that helps pups like Holly and Eleanor. Send well wishes to our newest upcoming tripods.
