Salt & Mineral licks are great for horses to make sure they are maintaining the levels needed in their body to function.
One thing I appreciate about having salt & mineral licks out in the pasture or in the stall vs as an supplement to grain, is that the horses will consume what they need when they need it.
Now into the winter months, and it being colder, the salt & mineral licks also help to encourage the horses to drink more water. As well salt is an electrolyte, which is very important for all body functions.
My mare has access to salt licks where she is boarded, I like to give her an extra treat after riding with HorsLic performance tub @horslic and with her starting the tipping point from mid age to … older age (don’t tell her that), I want to make sure her body has full and proper nutrition.
