Po***ck Woman Killed in Grant Parish Crash

Grant Parish – On March 1, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 167 at Louisiana Highway 1241. This crash claimed the life of 33-year-old Kari Butts of Po***ck.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2020 Toyota Camry, driven by Butts, was preparing to turn at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 1241 and U.S. Highway 167. For reasons still under investigation, Butts entered onto U.S. Highway 167, but failed to yield to a southbound 2021 Jeep Gladiator. As a result, Butts’ vehicle was struck by the Jeep.

Butts, who was not restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Jeep, who were restrained, sustained no injuries. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state. Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving. A lapse in one’s awareness can have deadly consequences.

Although not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.

In 2024, Troop E Troopers have investigated six fatal crashes resulting in seven fatalities.

Come out and get training information and visit with trainers and all the fur babies tomorrow..I will be bringing Jetta and a couple of other for everyone to love on.. Centurion K9 Services,LLC will be joining me for a narcotics detection and bitework demonstration with Milah and Tolkien.. Will have multiple shelters with dogs for adoption.. Gonna be a fun event for the whole family to enjoy and who doesn’t like loving on these gentle souls..

WHO NEEDS EQUIPMENT.. Thanos is transitioning to advanced off leash.. This is the beginning of his 3rd week here with me and as you can tell this guy just gets it.. If anyone is wondering this is my Advanced Obedience coarse with no prior training.. If another trainer tells you that you can’t do basic and advanced at the same time you might wanna look into another option.. It typically takes only 4 to 6 weeks to have one ready to go home with this coarse..
