Quick hunt after work today. She retrieved every duck to hand. Held until told to fetch. All retrieves were done blind as the grass was above her head.

This is a great article and brings attention to the real dangers of heat stroke in dogs. I have known of two dogs that died from heat stroke, one while training in the field and the other hunting in September when it was still very hot. High drive hunting dogs may not stop and it’s important to watch for signs of body core temperature reaching unsafe levels. The head dunking cooling method I’m going to try and teach.

Penn Vet Working Dog Center researchers have identified an effective and field-applicable way to rapidly help dogs cool down after exercise.
