Beau gets really worked up when the phone rings and hears (OK let him in) indicating someone is coming over. When you come in through the front door there’s a possibility you get nip/bit on the back of your leg.
I handled this situation in 2 steps. Step 1 is desensitized. (OK let him in.). Step 2 teach the family how to use the leash as a training tool to prevent him from biting the back leg.

On the road: Jersey

Consult with Marley the Goldendoodle, who has a long history of resource guarding, that had recently escalated to a bite. Here warning signs have become harder to read, and here reactivity faster.
We made a plan to set some boundaries and start some basic obedience, to help rebuild their relationship

German Shepherd Husky mix, Luna, was a pleasure to work with today. Mom and Dad were already dog-savvy, and we're off to a good start. They reached out to me for further guidance to fill in the missing pieces to the puzzle. So now, when we communicate with Luna, it'll still be clear. Having a good grasp of the benefits and drawbacks of using positive and negative reinforcement can significantly impact your outcomes.

Johnny and Kevlar's 9-month-old German Shepherd had a great lesson on how to charge the clicker and some leach handling skills.

Check it out, I'm the only one soaked. Just messing around! No matter how hot the day, I’ll pull out the bite suit, safety first! Next time though, I shouldn't need it, the dogs did great.

spent some time at green C.A.R.E animal shelter operated by Four legs good helping some shelter dogs with evaluation. these guys are the harder cases that everyone is not able to handle. It was a pleasure being able to help and keeping everyone safe. .

Today Kirby was ready to work. He had passion in his eyes and gas in the tank.

A small change can make a big difference. He’s used to us commanding him from a standing position, so I wanted to give the picture of a seated position, with the same results. This exercise will transfer over to eating at the dinner table, and commanding Kirby to the bed, without having to get up.

One of today’s consultations included meeting 3 bulldogs who need help to form a healthy pack dynamic. We’re off to a good start, and I’m looking forward to giving you updates on Jake, Maisy and Angie. (Check out the side eye I’m getting from Jake)

Private lesson with Mia.
The platform serves as a beginning and ending point to this exercise. We use the “climb” command to start the exercise, the only requirement is to keep the dog’s whole body on the platform, be it in a standing, sitting, or lying down position. We end the exercise with the “free” command, which releases the dog from the position, allowing him to step off the platform. This exercise is a good building block for other commands to be taught, such as sit, down, stand, and stay until released from exercise.

Day 2 of Sammy’s Board and Train stay, he's settled in nicely and has already warmed up to me.
Sammy, originally a southern pup, had a fairly traumatic puppyhood, and although he was adopted into a wonderfully caring family, he needs extra help to build confidence. Loud noises, men, and even cats scare Sammy, and to help him work through his fears, it's going to take time and patience to build his trust in me first; we're already off to a good start!
Training isn't a one size fits all approach, you have to develop a game plan that works best with the dog in front of you.

Ben is a former Board and Train graduate who is here as a refresher as his parents are off getting married.
Congratulations guys! Ben is excited, and looking forward to his family growing. Mom’s done a great job keeping Ben active and maintaining his commands. He definitely enjoyed his morning run on the field before and after training sessions.

Remember guys, training is a lifestyle and to help maintain quality controlled obedience, if you’re headed on vacation, or extended work trip, it’s a perfect opportunity for your dog to get started in obedience or maintain the work you’ve put in.

Private lesson with Kirby and family. Always a wonderful time: Here Kirby is working on leaving dad’s side and going to a platform, waiting to be called or released from the exercise. This exercise can be used when company comes to visit, or deliverymen come to the door, stopping unwanted barking and jumping.
