Have you heard of “Routine Flexibility”? As a professional, this outlook on life changed my routine life perspective so much and calmed my work-life balance anxieties.

Hear me out 👉: Do you get anxious when you fall out of routine? I did. If I couldn’t workout at the same time every morning or if I got a phone call from a friends sick pet at 7am, that I would willingly go help in the office, I missed my “social media work time”… “I missed my workout”… “I missed walking my dogs”…

This kept happening. 😡 I was becoming frustrated and anxious. Why couldn’t I stay on a routine anymore? I felt like I was loosing control. - No. I’m a working professional and a pet mom. Time management and routine become very hard unless your life is super “simple” .. but even then “chaos” pops up!

Actually, my zen friend sent me the Routine Flexibility podcast when she heard my cries for help. It explained how the biggest CEOs and busiest entrepreneurs have mentally incorporated “Routine Flexibility” into their lives.

What is it? It is a mental disciplinary note 📝 that you will do your routine at a different time that day or the next day if something pops up. (Which it will!) And you have to take a DEEP BREATH. Hmm- sounds easy enough, but we all know it’s not.

For example: Your weekly routine goal is that you run 4x a week 3 miles. I usually run 3 miles at 7am, but I can’t today because my son has a soccer game at 8am. So, I’ll run this afternoon at 4pm. I got my running done ✅ for my weekly goal, and I take a deep breath that it will get done, at some point.

I love this “routine flexibility” so much I had to share it with you!!! 💙💙💙💙💙

Mentally, your day wasn’t ruined it was flexible and mentally rearranged to meet your disciplinary goals 💪!

Why did these FLOWERS make my day??? Because I wasn’t expecting it. These clients are the sweetest people EVER!!

This brings me to a lot of Questions I get in my DMs.. “Should I be a Veterinarian? It seems like so many people talk about how the burn out is so high and Vets are now more depressed than Dentists?”

The answer I give EVERYONE who asks me this is: Follow your dreams and your job is what you make it!!! I make my job fun. So it is fun, I am happy and I fricking love it. I might even be addicted to Vet med.

I also tell people, choose the environment that FITS YOU. I work at a high volume general practice, but we have great mentorship, communication, positive environment and great work life balance schedules.

Don’t get me wrong.. I WORK ALOT. But if you love it, it isn’t work.. right?

I also think about that saying a-lot.

🫣Everyone, will have their own opinions on this, but for me when used properly the prong collar can help pet owners safety handle their pets on their own and around other animals.

🐾 Thousands of pets are surrendered each year because pet owners cannot handle their pets and they cannot walk them on a leash safely! 💔

My goal as a veterinarian and dog lover is to help people keep their dogs in their homes where they are loved! While also keeping the pet and owner safe. I talk about the prong collar to desperate pet owners in need and I decided to share this video, even though I know I will get some terrible hate comments.
