When life gets you down, do you wanna know what you’ve got to do? Just keeping swimming, swimming, swimming…
Or in Darby’s case, just keep wagging, wagging, wagging… #happydog #dontletlifegetyoudown
After a recent post we shared about the growing struggles within the veterinary industry, one of our long-time clients felt compelled to send a little extra love our way. It truly warmed our hearts. Inside the card she wrote:
“Dear Dr. Kramer,
Once I read the post on Facebook, it brings to light an ongoing problem that people don’t realize is happening. The aftermath of what these vets, doctors and staff endure on a daily basis. They wear multiple hats! Doctors have the stress of having a life in their hands […] but people don’t realize what the inconsiderate mannerisms and hurtful comments do to these people! It saddens me that it’s not realized that these employees have feelings and emotions too!! In my 35+ years of coming, I have nothing but gratitude for Dr. Kramer and staff at Atlantic Coast.
Much love.”
A small gesture with a big impact. #thankyougoesalongway
Some of you may recall our post earlier today about Heartworm Prevention Month. This video gives you a glimpse of what you are protecting your pets against. Imagine this worm crawling around inside your pet’s heart... yuck!

We are excited to report that another one of Dr. Kramer's long time Cardiac patients with chronic mitral valve disease has just successfully made it through open heart surgery to repair her mitral valve! Daisy and her family traveled to Versailles, France to have the surgery performed by Dr. Uechi, Dr. Bozon and their team of open heart surgeons. Dr. Uechi has done over 500 mitral valve repairs. We are happy to report Daisy is recovering well and will be back on all four paws in no time!!

A year ago 4 great young veterinarians came to us fresh from graduating, Dr. Cheng, Dr. Nieves, Dr. Smith and Dr. Szendry. Over the last year we encouraged them, trained them, harassed them, praised them and now we thank them! They have finished a grueling year of rotating medicine and surgery internship with us. They learned a lot and performed very well. With a tear in our eyes we send them off on their careers knowing they will all make us all so proud!! Thank you class of 2017!!! ❤️
We would also like to congratulate Dr. Gaudette who has completed her cardiology internship and will be continuing on to be Atlantic Coast's newest cardio resident!!!
Best wishes for continued success,
Dr.'s George Kramer, Jason Berg and all of the staff at Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists.

Chopper begins to walk again
This one of our patients, Chopper, who has been with us since late December. After a series of diagnostics, his symptoms were consistent with "Coonhound Paralysis". Aggressive physical therapy, combined with a very patient and understanding owner, Chopper is now able to walk again.
Chopper was showing signs of lower motor neuron disease that led to paralysis of all four limbs. He required intense nursing care because he could no longer eat or drink on his own. We have all fallen in love with Chopper, and he has become a part of the ACVS family.
Over the last few days, he has made some dramatic improvements. See for yourself!
Your donations hard at work! Our patient Cappuccino who we have been working around the clock on getting better is in great spirits! Below is a video of him walking around our back dock.
