Had a great day yesterday 3/3. One gut shot overnight lay the coyotes got on him and pushed it over a property line. Luckily we met some awesome neighbors who helped us out. Had two good fun runs one being probably my coldest track of the year so far. We ended up splashing around in the beaver pond which is one of my favorite things no matter if it is frozen. Met some great folks and go to watch my girls work on point.

The good ole back whack spinal shock. I explain it as like hitting your funny bone or sitting wrong till your leg falls asleep but instead of it being one limb the dead leg tingling and temporary lack of control/ paralysis is in the entire body or sometimes just half. I have had hunters send me pics posing with the deer then it recovered and bolted. I have had folks tell me they watched it both flop and not move a muscle for an hour then jump up and run. They went to get the truck came back and it was gone. I commonly hear either “It left the field plowing with its front end!” Or “He drug himself off with his front feet” Well the vast majority of the time these deer are simply not recovered unless it happens to be someones lucky day. They will often bleed well nice bright red then trickle to a stop though sometimes it will be specks from beginning to end. My advice no matter what is Choot em till they’re ded don’t Choot em till they’re down!!!
And yes that is my FB muffler. I learned a lesson from my hard time in the FB pokey. 😁

This is a great idea and goes right along with hunters needing to meet the neighbors before the shot or even the season. A good relationship with the neighbors will save a lot of headache heartache and time.

Suggestion if you post your property. Write your phone number on the signs. As a blood tracker I am constantly dealing with posted private property and I find that the vast majority of times when we are able to contact the landowner, the landowner grants us access to track. I live next to public hunting land myself and post my property too so I can hunt relatively un-disturbed but I never have a problem if somebody from the public property needs to follow a blood trail onto my side as long as they ask. How could they contact me to ask if my number wasn’t on the sign?
