Planted Community Tank
1 minute video of my community tank. Viewed from the right side. So peaceful.
Had to DIY a drip acclimation system. Length of air hose with an air control "T" nozzle. Didn't have to pinch the air hose.
The plants are planted now. There is mostly cryptocoryn wendtii, cryptocoryn undulata, and mondo grass. Will hopefully get more variety in the future. This was taken before I put the sand in. Now to get a background for it.
Been busy with the tank this morning. Changed the white sand out with 2 bags of CaribSea Brands FloraMax planted aquarium substrate in black and will be adding 1 bag of CaribSea Super Naturals 'Tahitian Moon' black sand later today. Got to say I'm really loving how quickly my 2 Fluval 70's clear the tank. No more having to wait 3 hours to continue working the tank. Now time to plant finally.
I upgraded the filter on my 55 gallon sooner than expected. The impeller on the Tetra Whisper EX70 is getting noisier and nothing I try to do is working to fix it.
I decided to go with two Fluval 70s though rather than just one Fluval 110. Two Fluval 70s cycle 600GPH combined & uses 12 watts combined, while one Fluval 110 cycles 500GPH and uses 14 watts.
I love that I can change the media for whatever I feel the tank needs at any given time. I also am impressed with how quiet it runs, and that it clears the water extremely fast. I bought one to start with now and will buy the second one in January.
Ok I broke down today and upgraded the filter on my smaller tank (30 gallon breeder) to a Fluval 30. The sponge filter just wasn't cutting it to keep the tank clean and clear. I will leave the sponge filter in there for a month or two to help seed the new filter bio. I really love how quiet it runs. It was the first thing my daughter noticed as well. As she helped put it together and get it started. Very happy with all of the Fluval products I have purchased so far. I highly recommend them.
Late night in the tank. My Gold Dust Mollies glow naturally in the light!
I love watching my fish! Enjoy!

Sorry for a lack of posts lately. I've been really busy. Finally was able to finish the pond at the Northland Arboretum yesterday. It's taken me way longer than I wanted to due to my family's schedule and the weather not cooperating on other days. It looks beautiful now. The Goldfish will be going in the pond next week on Wednesday June 14th. Watch for the video. Watch for the photo album of the pond project progress. Thank you to all my friends and family that helped me completed the project. Thank you to the Northland Arboretum for taking a chance on me and allowing me the chance to get experience with pond maintenance.
What do you guys think of my newest addition to my breeding line of blue green peacocks? He's fourth generation born and raised in my tank. This is Cypress. He is definitely maturing nicely
Another view of the nursery tank. beautifully Crystal clear water.
