If you look closely you can see that he has a split in his tongue! This is called a forked tongue and the reason he has this is to make it easier for him to detect and interpret smells. The two halves of the forked tongue allow him to identify which direction he should go in his pursuit of his meal!

We're excited to welcome our new family member Remi to the Gypsy Breeders household❤ Remi is an Argentine Black & White Tegu. He can grow to an incredible length of 3-5 ft long including his tail! He's a little under a year old now but he can live up to 12 years! We're thrilled to get him hand tamed and give him the best life☺❤🦎

Sadly, our girls did not produce any babies for us this year.😔 We were hopeful that we did everything correct but sadly we didn't account for our power going out multiple times, among other small mistakes through the process. It happens to the best of us, especially us beginners. We plan to take everything we learned this year and use it to help us in the upcoming breeding season.🙌🙏
We'll still be posting snake content periodically, because these beautiful reptiles deserve to be seen and loved💚💚
