Hello Friends!!

We are excited to announce that Dr. Ben and his wife are expecting their new baby girl due VERY soon in mid July and we are super excited to meet her!!

That being said, Dr. Ben will be out of the office on paternity leave from July 8th through July 22nd and will return on July 23rd assuming all goes well and as expected!

But don't worry! We will have our wonderful relief doctors, Dr. Miller and Dr. Muur, here while he is gone so we can continue to provide care for your pets!

As always, if your pet is in need of urgent or emergency care outside of our regular business hours or on a day that we are either booked or do not have a doctor on staff, please contact the Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC) in Waukesha at (262) 542-3241.

I'm sure you all will join us in wishing Dr. Ben and his wife a happy, healthy delivery and pray for his sanity as he tries to keep both momma happy and his two little boys (3 & 4yrs old) preoccupied so momma can rest up for that big day! LOL!

Have a great weekend all!

Happy National Greyhound Day!
Greyhounds are believed to be the oldest purebred dog breed, with prehistoric art depicting greyhound-like dogs chasing game. What is known for certain is that these hounds date back to Ancient Egypt roughly 5,000 years ago and were used by pharaohs for hunting and chasing wildlife. These dogs were considered an extension of the pharaohs. They were also regarded as divine and could only be owned by royalty until about 1700.
Greyhounds have also been honored in Greek and Roman mythology, and Shakespeare included them in “Henry V.” Every current purebred Greyhound today has lineage back to King Cob of England in 1839. They were recognized by the AKC in 1885 and are currently the 129th most popular breed out of 200 breeds.
What Greyhounds are known for is being the fastest dog breed. The fastest individual Greyhound is Shakey Jakey from Australia, who was clocked at 41.8 mph (67 kph) in 2014!
On average, Greyhounds can run 40 to 45 mph (64 to 72 kph) at their fastest but are also known to maintain great speed. They can run at 35 mph (56 kph) for about 7 miles (11 kph)!

Happy National Sheltie Day!
June 1st is International Sheltie Day, celebrating the herding dog breed called the Shetland Sheepdog. Shelties are good family companions, intelligent, affectionate, and sensitive. This hardy breed has been a guard for farmers in the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland for decades, and has evolved to thrive in the harsh conditions of its native islands. This breed was officially recognized by The Kennel Club in 1909.

HAPPY NATIONAL DOG MOM DAY!!🐶🐾
Dog Mom Day is a day for all pup-loving women across the country to celebrate their special kind of motherhood. Can you imagine that dogs came into our lives between 20,000 and 40,000 years ago? Dogs are descendants of a now-extinct wolf species. They have become human’s best and most loyal friends. Thank you to all the women who love the pups with all of their hearts and more ❤

It's National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day!!!
Did you know, every year, just in the U.S., about 6.5 million animals go into animal shelters? More interestingly, roughly half of them are cats and half of them are dogs. That is why it is SO important to adopt ❤🐾

Some history on how the day became: The American Humane Society created Adopt A Dog Month every October back in 1981. This was done to raise awareness about dogs stuck in the shelter system. People’s collective efforts could get a pet a home of their own. Soon after, other pet owners started talking about having a day where not just dogs but every pet is celebrated and people are made aware of the need and benefits of adopting these animals as pets. That’s how the National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day was started on April 30.
