Did you know horses get headaches?
.
With them not being able to speak our language it's sometimes easy to over look. Some signs might include tension in the poll, head shyness, excess head shaking, or sometimes it's just a worried look. Sometimes it can be as simple as a change in attitude.
.
This is River, she is a sweet mare with a pleasant disposition. She like most of us holds all her tension in her neck, which resulted in a headache. In the before video you can see the tension through the neck as I have my hand on her poll. She has a worried look in her eye and is holding her ear and lips taunt. As I have my hand there she throws her head to try to avoid contact. In the after video you can see a physical change in her appearance. She's not holding her neck tight, her eye has soften, and her ears and lips are relaxed.
