Few would argue how cute pets and children are, but who knows the proven mental health and mood-boosting benefits of pets for children?

Calling all Animal Lovers!

With sincere gratitude from our staff and our animals, we thank all the animal lovers who contributed to our new furnaces.
The amount of community support that rallied for us in our time of need was astonishing!
A special call out to A&A Heating and Air Conditioning in Buffalo, MN – a family business of animal lovers that took great care of us! Two new furnaces have been installed – one for our shelter and one for our community clinic.
The support we received almost covered all expenses.
We are warm. The animals are comfortable! We are all grateful.

Buffalo stray turned in10/24/2024- senior neutered male black with tan feet. Green collar with blue ID collar unfortunately the information is scratched off and we can only make out 3 of the numbers. No microchip.
He was Found in the Buffalo Hills area running between Juniper lane /Uplanda/Arlanda the streets are between Tatanka elementary and Lake Pulaski. Dog appears to have an old injury to his left eye,Very Nice Dog!

Has anyone out there seen the cartoon of two dogs chatting?
One dog asks the other, "Is your human a rescue too"? The other dog replies, "Yeah, they have some issues, but I'm working on it"!

Many things in life have to be experienced to resonate with us. As the dog owner of a homeless dog from Crossroads Animal Shelter, I wish I had words to convey the heartfelt truth of this sentiment.

Today is going to be a beautiful Saturday. A great day to "DO GOOD" – rescue a homeless companion animal – An even better day to "FEEL GOOD" – with all the emotional support they give to you in return.

Did everyone feel the chill this past week when you woke up and pulled the blankets back? Most of us headed straight for the thermostat to fire up some heat!

At Crossroads, all we heard was a "clicking" sound when we tried to warm the shelter. Upon inspection, we learned that our wiring was completely chewed through by wildlife and the only solution is a new furnace – Yikes!

It's not easy being a non-profit animal shelter.
Sometimes, the most difficult part is having to ask for help. We need to raise donations for a new furnace and it's a big ask! We have 11 dogs and 22 cats to keep safe, healthy, and WARM.

Good morning Animal Lovers!

Look what the shelter rescued and has ready for adoption starting today at 3 p.m. today – seven of the gosh darn cutest German Shepherd mix puppies I've ever seen!

Known for their intelligence, unwavering loyalty, and loving companionship, the German Shepard is highly trainable and a great family dog. They thrive when paired with active individuals and families, including those with children.

When you work in animal welfare, there are days when you see things that break your heart. Then there are days like this one at The Big Bore – when you place 14 homeless dogs into wonderful homes in ONE day – you're surrounded by people who love animals the way you do – and you leave feeling renewed and full of hope that you are making a difference.
The Crossroads Team is sending a big, "THANK YOU" to the Big Bore Barbecue Company, Tito's Handmade Vodka, the Monticello Dog Academy, and all the people who supported making this day possible.

We ask for help a LOT, but we really need our Animals Lovers on this one. Please help us find a home for Beatrice!

Beatrice is a 3 year-old, Labrador/ Retriever mix who is a truly wonderful dog – she is potty trained, does well with other dogs, and loves people!

She has a kind, playful and loving spirit. Beatrice seems to bond to women quickly, but warms up to men with some reassurance and belly rubs.
​
A "fetch" enthusiast, outdoor explorer, boating side kick, and lounging companion are the attributes her foster family adores about her.
​
​A shelter can be a stressful place and Beatrice had a difficult time here. We were lucky to find a wonderful foster home for her and she has thrived in a family home setting.

We have a special little guy named Arthur at the shelter and available for adoption right now.

As a volunteer, I had the opportunity to spend some time with Arthur and I was amazed how gentle, sweet, and affectionate this dog is after all he has been through.

If you would love a little lap dog that would be grateful for a second chance, or know someone who would be interested in adopting Arthur, please share his story.

We open at 3pm today! If Arthur is still with us on Saturday, he will be at the Big Bore Barbecue Company ADOPTION EVENT this coming Saturday from 11 am - 2 pm.

We have posted videos this week of SFC Marvin Thomas from Army Recruiting Buffalo, MN volunteering his time to care for the canines in our shelter. Beyond our wonderful experience of having Marvin and his group at Crossroads, the men and women that fight for our freedom benefit in huge ways from the emotional support of service dogs and companion animals.

MEET Dolly
An 8-month old Austrailian Shepard mix, Dolly is a silly, quirky, fun girl. If you are active and like adventures, Dolly would be a the perfect companion for you. She loves to play and walk – she likes all people, and she did well when introduced to dogs in the shelter. She would be a great hiking companion not to mention, she is just the perfect size to be a co-pilot on road trips!

MEET Layla & Lemonade

Layla and her sweet new pup, Lemonade were found abandoned by the side of of desolate road. Emaciated, dehydrated, and full of parasites.

Can you imagine?

Today, they have both been restored to health and safety.

Lemonade was successfully adopted into a loving home this past week and Layla is currently in a caring foster home!

This is our mission work at Crossroads.

As a local non-profit organization, Crossroads receives no government or state funding and relies solely on community support.
