Staff pick of the week
Meet Dolly, Dolly is a cattle dog mix and she is a true doll. Dolly is just about a year old and is an absolute lover. Dolly has been with us here for about 4 months now and we are a little puzzled as to why. She is good with other dogs, and she LOVES children and everyone she meets.

We are working hard to find Dolly a home, she is overlooked because she is not a puppy and we hear comments that people think she may be a Pittbul mix.

Next to Dolly is a training tool that we've used in-house to challenge bias. What we believe to be true frequently is not. We are conditioned to see a body type, the shape of an ear, or the roundness of a head and make an assumption.

This is a very common bias and it keeps ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL dogs like Dolly in shelters all over the country.

If you would like to meet Dolly please come in and visit. she is eligible for our foster-to-adopt program as well. Email [email protected] for more information on this program.

This is a very common bias and keeps ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL dogs like Dolly in shelters nationwide.

Meet Layla: Crossroads Animal Shelter's Highlight of the Week!

Layla came to us last August, found abandoned on the side of the road with her puppy (who has since been adopted). She was underweight, dehydrated, and covered in ticks. After testing positive for heartworm, Layla was placed in foster care where she received the treatment she needed.

After a successful heartworm treatment, Layla is now at the tail end of her recovery and ready for a loving forever home! If you’re looking for a resilient, sweet dog who deserves a second chance, Layla might just be the one for you.

Read more about Layla on our website crossroadsshelter.org

If you would like to meet Layla please email [email protected] to make an appointment she is currently in foster and would love to meet you.

Foster Love, Change Lives - Foster Homes Needed

As we all recover from the holiday season and look ahead to a new year, many of us think about how we can make a difference. One often overlooked yet incredibly impactful opportunity is fostering animals in need.

Fostering is a less permanent commitment than adoption, but it still allows you to make a huge difference in the lives of dogs and cats searching for their permanent homes. By opening your home to an animal in need, you provide them with the safe, loving environment they need to heal, grow, or receive extra care while they wait for their adopting families. It's also a great opportunity for individuals or families who aren’t currently ready to adopt but still want the experience of having a pet in their lives.

When you foster, you help animals build trust, regain confidence, and adapt to living in a home environment. You'll also help them become more socialized, which greatly improves their chances of finding a permanent home. It's a truly rewarding experience, knowing that you've played a key role in their journey to a better life.

Crossroads provides all necessary supplies including food any needed medical care, you supply the home, time & love.

If you and your family are interested in helping animals in need, consider fostering in the new year. Go to our website crossroadsshelter.org to sign up.

Thank you for considering making a difference in the life of a rescue animal. Wishing you a new year filled with kindness and compassion!

Meet Diesel, he is a very sweet boy! He is silly, quirky, and doesn't quite realize his size yet at 1.5 years old. He knows how to sit and shake, walks well on a leash, and is potty trained.
In his previous home, the resident cat was his best friend and snuggle buddy. Diesel has lived well with children 9-12 years old and another dog. He was a little shy when he first arrived with the other dogs in the kennel and has settled in. He is looking for a family to make him their best boy.
Diesel is sterilized, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. He was surrendered because of allergies of the owner in his previous home.
