Our Story
The Brewster Street Farm aims to offer healthy, locally grown produce at low costs. The farm is owned and operated by the Green Shoots for New Americans program, a Refugee Agricultural Program with Journey's End Refugee Services. The purpose of the program is to support refugee farmers in urban farming and food sovereignty by providing technical assistance, education, and necessary supplies in order to enhance their farming skills, English skills, business and marketing techniques, increase their income, and provide for healthy eating habits. By promoting food sovereignty through urban farming, we aim to give food system autonomy to the farmers while giving back to the community that the farm is located in. We are hopeful to create partnerships that will assist in the sustainability of this program. We are happy to accept donations in terms of land, farm tools and supplies, money, and more! All donations are tax deductible and will be used to help the farmers become independent.
