Last week, Dr. Gerbers had the opportunity to work with some of the amazing Wyoming Police officers who have K9 partners! We did a Q&A session so these officers feel prepared to assist their K9s if they are injured while on the job. We'd like to give a BIG thank you to the officers as well as Wyoming Animal Hospital for creating and facilitating this meeting!! And an even BIGGER thank you to Scout, for being bestest boy!!! πŸ’œπŸ•β€πŸ¦ΊπŸΎ

This big girl is Skye! She came to us with an upset stomach that our doctor suspected was caused by Gastroenteritis. This disease can cause severe vomiting and diarrhea that can quickly lead to dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and even sepsis without proper veterinary treatment. If you suspect your furry friend has Gastroenteritis reach out to your regular veterinarian right away! If they are closed, please call us so we can assist you in getting the care your pup needs. Early intervention can make a huge difference in your pet's recovery.

Meet Taco! This gorgeous girl belongs to one of our ER doctors. Taco struggles with occasional constipation but in addition to that, she has Feline Osteoarthritis, which can make her feel sore and uncomfortable.

What is Feline Osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition where joints become inflamed and worn. Signs that your kitty may be experiencing OA pain include stiffness, lameness, decreased activity levels, trouble jumping up/down or climbing stairs.

The good news is that with early intervention, your regular veterinarian can help manage this condition and keep your feline friend happy and comfortable for as long as possible. If you notice any of these symptoms, be sure to talk to your vet about what steps you can take at home to improve their quality of life. If your cat seems painful for any reason and your regular veterinarian is not open, we can help get their pain under control in the meantime!

This good boy is Ryker! He was previously diagnosed with epileptic seizures that were being managed with medication. Ryker's mom brought him in to see us at our Grand Rapids location when he started having seizures while being on this medication. Often, patients who experience seizures have something called "Idiopathic Epilepsy" meaning there's no physical abnormality causing the seizures. While frustrating, most pets can be managed on an anti-seizure medication and have very few breakthrough seizures. Ryker was hospitalized and monitored closely while he was here and his medication dose was increased. He was able to go home later that day!

We had to give Guiness a special send-off after staying with us at our Grand Rapids location for close to 3 weeks! He gave his owners quite a scare after accidentally ingesting rodenticide. It was a long road to recovery, but with a lot of love and care from our team and unending support from his people, he finally was well enough to get back home where he belongs! While here, this adorable tripod stole the hearts of several staff members. There may have been a tear or two shed as he left but all happy tears! See an update in the comments of how Guiness is doing now!

Memorial Day is a time to reflect and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. As we enjoy time with friends and family over the long weekend, let's take a moment to pay tribute to the brave men and women who fought for our freedom.

🐾 Here is our furry friend Gulliver enjoying the beautiful weather and preparing for a swim. Although he doesn't understand all that Memorial Day means, he helps us relax and enjoy life's simpler pleasures. Pets have a way of bringing joy and unconditional love into our lives.

This Memorial Day, we remember those who died serving our nation

This May we remind you that it is National Chip Your Pet Month!

Each year, about 10 million pets are lost in America, with millions ending up in animal shelters. Only 15% of dogs and 2% of cats in these shelters without microchips are reunited with their owners. The goal of Chip Your Pet Month is to encourage pet owners to microchip their animals so that they can be quickly found and brought back to their owners if they go missing. The microchips are placed beneath the pet’s skin, typically between the shoulders. Veterinary offices or animal shelters can use the contact information on these implants and get in touch with you in case you lose your pets. Please reach out to your Veterinary office to schedule an appointment to chip your pet.

Today we're kicking off BISSELL Pet Foundation's event! All dogs including this handsome boy, Kweli, will be $50 from now until May 15th! 😍 We are still bursting at the seams with over 150 animals in our care as of right now and would looovvee to see lots of dogs and cats find their new homes.

Kweli is a BIG boy at nearly 100 lbs, full of love, and about 5 years old. 🫢 He's starting to think his shelter setup may not be quite big enough for him and would love a nice big dog bed in a house with space to call his own. πŸ₯²πŸ˜

Share our post to help Kweli and all our other pups find their forever homes over the next two weeks so we can really try to ! πŸ₯³
