🩷Kona is a 10-month-old Labrador Retriever mix with a big love for treats! Like most puppies, she's incredibly smart and eager to learn, especially when there's food involved. Kona would do best in a home with children 6 years or older, where she can get plenty of playtime and gentle guidance. 💙 Meet Darwin, a shy but resilient 5-year-old male who is looking for a fresh start! Previously in a crowded environment, this Persian/Mix kitty didn't have the chance to experience a typical loving home. He may be initially cautious, but with gentle patience, he has great potential to blossom in a calm, understanding environment.

🥰Darwin is learning to trust people and will need time to warm up, but each day in a loving home brings him closer to feeling safe. He might feel uneasy around sudden movements or loud noises at first, and it's common to show independence as he adjusts. Small children's unpredictability and fast movements might be too much for him and children in the home must be 6+ years old.

Darwin's perfect match is someone willing to offer patience, a slow approach, and a quiet space to decompress. While he will need extra time to settle in, the reward of seeing him come out of his shell will be incredibly heartwarming. With regular vet care, Darwin can finally enjoy the healthy, happy lives he deserves.

🩷Tonks is a 3-year-old Siberian Husky mix who absolutely loves the outdoors! She's the perfect adventure buddy for an active family who enjoys hiking, running, or spending time in nature. Tonks can be a bit standoffish with people at first, but once she gets to know you, her true, affectionate personality will shine through.

🐾Tonks would do best in a home with children 8 years and older, as she appreciates a calm and respectful environment while she builds trust. She also needs to be in in a home with no small dogs or cats. If you have a larger dog, a mandatory meet and greet is required. 😻Meet Raya, a sweet and cuddly 2+-year-old tabby with a heartwarming story. She arrived at the shelter as a very pregnant kitty and gave birth shortly after. Raya and her kittens were lovingly cared for in a foster home, where she proved to be a wonderful, if sometimes temperamental, mama. Raya was adopted out for several months, but the existing elderly cat in the home was not thrilled at having a new family member, and back she came.

🩷With her nurturing duties behind her, Raya's true personality has emerged: she's affectionate, purry, and loves to cuddle. This resilient and loving mama cat is ready to start her new chapter with a forever family who will cherish her as much as she will cherish them. Last week, we were thrilled to find forever homes for 19 cats and 24 dogs! Among them is Susie (top left), who has finally found her perfect family after being with us since July as an Adopt-from-Home dog. We're so happy for her!

🐾The Barn Cat Program provides a humane option for cats who are unsocialized and would not do well in an adoptive home. Although Barn Cats may not want your love and affection right away, they will quickly start to associate you as their caregiver, food source and develop a bond with you.
Barn Cats:
- help with pest control
- prevent other cats from coming onto your property
- are spayed/neutered
- are vaccinated, dewormed and flea treated
Theodore was found on a very busy road and brought to the shelter with a ruptured cornea. His eye was removed and he is ready to start his next chapter. If you are interested in adopting Theodore, please stop by WVHS during adoption hours or call 208-455-5920. 🩷

💙Meet Charlie! Charlie is a male, 8-year-old, American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He weighs 86 pounds.

Charlie arrived at the shelter in April, after his owner passed away. Charlie was very confused and quiet for the first couple of days that he was here, but we quickly found the way to his heart - TOYS! Charlie loves tennis balls, stuffed toys, squeaky toys, ropes, you name it! With a toy, you could see his eyes light up and his little puppy heart become so excited! Charlie also does his best to keep his kennel clean and go to the restroom outside, so we believe he may be house trained.🐾

🐶If you have other dogs in your home, they will need to have a staff-supervised meet and greet with Charlie before he goes home as he is a bit dog selective. We do not know how he will do with cats.

Charlie is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered, and ready to go home today.

🩷Meet Moony! Moony is a 6-year-old pointer mix who came to us as a stray. While we don't know much about her past, she has shown her sweet personality in the shelter. Though she can be a bit apprehensive in new situations, she warms up over time and becomes more confident once she gets to know the people around her. Moony is friendly when meeting new people and is easy to leash up for walks! She does pull a bit, but with time and training, she'll surely improve.🐾

Meet Yam, an 8-year-old warrior with a heart full of love! Yam was found as a stray, and though life hasn't been easy, he's a true survivor. Born with a unique face (he's missing a left nostril, which causes some tear drainage) and fewer teeth after a recent dental surgery, he may look a bit different, but that just makes him all the more special. Yam adores Churu treats and loves exploring on his own terms. Independent yet affectionate, he's happy to be around humans and doesn't mind being carried. Yam is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and is microchipped. He's on the lookout for a cozy retirement home where he can bask in warmth and kindness. Here's a Happy Tails about Ruby! "In 2016 I lost my little chihuahua and had messaged you guys about bringing some of her belongings as I could no longer use them. While I was there is figured I would just look around, and saw the sweetest girl with her cone of shame on from getting spayed. I took a picture of her, went home, stared at the picture for 30 more minutes and my husband told me to just go get her. Her street name was Khalua, but we call her Ruby. She is my best girl. Always ready for an adventure or just a good cuddle session. We have moved across the country since her adoption, but we still love watching the good you guys do for the pups back at our home."
