Introducing Jager, a male 2-year-old German Shepherd/Mix. Jager was brought to the shelter as his owner, who he lived with his whole life, became homeless. Here is what his previous owner had to say about Jager – “Jager is house trained, but is not crate trained. He knows how to sit down. When I was away from the home, Jager was inside or loose in the yard. He was left alone for 5 hours a day. He gets along with other dogs, and has lived with Derp a small chihuahua. He barks at unfamiliar people. Does very well with children. He is friendly, kind and smart. Loves to run.”

We recommend a home with kids 6+ due to how much he jumps up, could easily knock a small child over.

Idaho is so close to being a No Kill State!

Did you know that based on recent data published by Best Friends Animal Society, Idaho is less than 400 animals away from being a completely No-Kill state! Meet George, a 3-year-old tabby with a curious spirit and a mind of his own. Brought to the shelter as a stray, George has quickly made it clear that he’s an independent guy who loves to explore. Whether he’s checking out new spaces or playing a game of “catch me if you can,” George keeps himself busy and entertained. While he enjoys a good cuddle and doesn’t mind being picked up, George prefers to do things on his own terms. On picture day, he thought it would be fun to play "hide and seek" and he had a fun tour of the shelter while we merrily followed him around. He is happy and likely will make you happy too!

Here's a wonderful happy tails update from the Barnhill family!

"Exactly 1 year ago today I brought home Ellie (previously Selena), and her newborn 7 puppies(the African safari puppies) as my first fosters. Quickly I realized Ellie was going to not only be my first foster, but my first foster fail as well. I fell in love with her instantly and knew she was going to stay with me forever.

After the puppies were old enough to be adopted, I officially adopted Ellie and we have been inseparable ever since. She has the craziest personality and is up for any adventure. She really is the life of any party. Luckily a friend adopted one of the African safari puppies and we have regular play dates and they are still the best of friends!

After many guesses of her breed, she finally got a DNA test to determined she is 46% husky and 25% poodle as well as other breeds to make up the remainder of her.

At the time I didn’t know it, but the decision to adopt Ellie has made my life better everyday we get to spend together and makes me laugh harder than she probably should. She will forever be my greatest failure."

"Hi, I just wanted to send in an update about our new family members. We adopted a brother and sister named Vanilla and Cappuccino. We've renamed them Pixie and Goldie. My girls absolutely adore them. After we lost Twinkletoes (who was 17 years old) last November, we weren't sure if we were ready to adopt again, but Pixie and Goldie have brought so much joy into our lives. They make us laugh every day. Thank you for everything you do!"
