When a grain order comes in, it's an awesome opportunity to bring the youngsters for some life experiences while making the day of your favorite feed store owners!! Thorin helped show Cy and Sabre that these outings are no big deal.

Today, July 27, 2023 we rode in the 2nd Annual Micah's Memorial S.W.I.M. in honor of our friend's son, Micah Walker.

Lancer loves being groomed and touched everywhere. I'm between our meds I really want them to learn I do lots of fun stuff,too!

Thunder Cliff Lady Guinevere is two weeks old today! This sweet little filly has had an even more "exciting" two weeks than her brother. She is the biggest love and truly a special filly, especially o remain so sweet with all she's been through.
If you notice the bandage on photo two, poor Guinevere had another emergency vet visit yesterday. She got caught in the commotion of protective momma going after a loose dog that wandered into the wrong barn to munch manure. Luna got Guinevere with her hoof trying to get the dog. We are grateful that no serious damage was done. She missed tearing the tendon or vein. Exposed the tendon sheath, but didn't damage it.
X rays were clean and proved that a joint wasn't damaged either, it's lower leg and right across three joints. She got 20ish stitches and will wear a wrap for a couple weeks while it heals. Thanks Dr Robinson, again!!

This first photo... So much emotion, relief and exhaustion caught in a photo. Two momma's, glad to be back home with their babies after a very tough week!
**Some of the other photos are not for the faint at heart. All of the staff did what they do needed to fully examine and treat these babies.**
Guinevere got sick a week ago Saturday, and Lancer did last Monday. Each were taken with their moms to Littleton Equine Hospital the day they got sick and spent several days there. They are home now and recovering with continued meds and care here.
We learned about a new to us virus, which after 33 years of horse ownership, 20 years on this property and around 30 foals born here between rescue, clients and Shires is proof the longer I have horses, the more I realize how much more I have left to learn.
Rotavirus A is what our little ones caught. I am leaning it's not uncommon, but I have never experienced this before. It was scary how fast they tanked. I am vigilant with watching, knowing babies crash fast, and I'm grateful we are under two hours to an amazing equine hospital.
I am grateful to all of the vets and staff that acted fast and ensured our babies had the best chance to survive. Thanks to all my friends and family offering support and prayers. Thanks Heike for making two trips to Littleton with us. And I am eternally grateful to my husband ,for not questioning the bill to save these babies. Thank you is not enough!!

Thunder Cliff Sir Lancelot is two weeks old today! What an adventure this two weeks has been!
More on this in another post. But I thank The Lord, my husband , Dr Robinson and all if the vets and staff at Littleton Equine Hospital that he's here with today, exploring and recovering!!!

This memory from eight years ago popped up on Friday. As I was waiting at Littleton Equine Hospital for the fourth time this week.... This time to bring home Lancelot and Gabby. On Thursday we brought Guinevere and Luna home...
What a reminder of all this this crazy adventure has been for us!
Eight years ago we purchased our first registered Shire, Huck's Luna Jewel of Shady Grove. After 12 years of loving PMU draft horses, we decided to get some registered Shire horses to add to the herd, a childhood dream of mine....
Luna was two in this photo, pictured with Cindy Temaat, her breeder, and I. She's now 10 and has two daughters, Eclipse and Guinevere.
