We are so fortunate to “grow” our own chickens. Free ranging with no antibiotic and no hormones. Humanely raised on our land and taken care of by us. Nothing get wasted as we use all the skin, bones, etc. combined with all our extra onion peels, celery, carrot, and other “chopped” leftovers. Anytime we cook with anything that goes into making our broth, we freeze. When we make our broth we throw everything into the roaster. Always our own broth! We make fresh chicken salad, chicken tetrazzini, casserole, and many other great dishes.

Grateful to have 15 figs trees doing very well. These came from my Grandmother’s original tree from Lebanon. My uncle Bob was gracious enough to hire Truesdale Farms to graft trees for all of us grandchildren. Some did not want them so I got the extras. We got a Few figs last year but super excited for the kid’s future figs and learning their heritage.

A lot of prep work but makes planting and harvesting worth it knowing your food is preserved for at least 25 years. Yes, we save our bacon grease (lard) and yes we love the freeze dryer. Freeze dried smart mouth kids ?? 🤣🤣

Love the “free” “wild” stuff (kid’s word) that grows in the compost pile. Last year it was Squash and this year it appears to be pumpkins.

Always have a few that don’t cooperate and require a step ladder. Took a few stings but I was in their house. You might be a redneck if you don’t cut your grass because of bee food! Many queens have full frame brood patterns and the honey is getting capped. , ,

Our girls are so good to us. Many people ask me how we handle or process our milk. After we get from the girls (secondary bucket stays on ice) we triple filter, then pasteurize , then jar it and label it. We get so much that we freeze after two days for the fresh milk for our soap that we are going to start making. Ps. The small jar is what we strip the teats in before we collect our milk.

Please understand how important the honey bees are to us humans and to our growth of food.
This is a honey bee. The pollen on her legs is from dandelions. Her tongue is sticking out due to what killed her that was on the dandelions.
It’s spring, dandelions are the bees first food. This bee is dead from w**d killer spread on what we see as w**ds, but what nature sees as food. Please don’t spray for w**ds until you see the blackberries blooming. In this area, w**ds, flowers and fruit trees are bees only source of food until middle of June. There are FAR more w**ds than flowers or fruit trees, so it's their only food source. No bees, no food crops for us and we all starve.
