It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to Dr. Sandino as he embarks on an exciting new adventure in South Carolina. While we will miss his expertise, dedication, and the positive impact he's had on all of us, we are also thrilled for the new chapter ahead for him.

Dr. Sandino, thank you for your hard work, kindness, and the care you've shown to everyone here. Your presence will surely be missed, but we wish you all the best in this new journey. May your path be filled with success, happiness, and new opportunities!

The office will be closed on Friday, October 18th from 12:00pm-1:00pm. We are saying goodbye to Katie-Beth, one of our beloved veterinary technicians. Beth has been with MVS for more than a decade and we will miss her SO much! As we know you will too! She has accepted a job (outside of veterinary medicine) where she will be closer to home and her son, Chase. We are wishing her best of luck and insist that she visit us regularly! 🐾♥️

Guess what? It’s one of our favorite times of the year! It’s National Veterinary Technician Week! Vet techs play such a crucial role in animal care. They are often the unsung heroes in veterinary clinics, providing support, compassion, and expertise. Their dedication ensures that our pets receive the best possible care, from routine check-ups to emergencies. We love the chance to honor our veterinary technicians and all of our veterinary staff!

We are blessed to have 4 wonderful vet techs- Beth, Breanna, Hailey, & Rejeana, and 2 amazing veterinary assistants- Ashley & Caelyn, at MVS. These special ladies are the ones that reassure you when you call in with concerns, get excited with every puppy or kitten visit to see how much your pet has grown, monitor your pet under anesthesia, and are our right hand for everything. Kathy, our office manager, jumps in whenever we need extra help, and Sadie keeps our clinic spotless and provides the pets with all the love.

We may be partial, but our team is exceptional at what they do and deserve recognition every day, so let’s show them some extra appreciation and love this week! A big thank you to all veterinary technicians and staff for their hard work and commitment to the health and well-being of our furry friends!

Miracle Monday!

A few weeks ago, Mufasa was brought in by Macoupin County Animal Control & Adoption Center for not feeling well and looking pale. He had developed an auto immune disease that attacked his body’s own red blood cells, and he needed a blood transfusion FAST! Our clients were gracious and waited while we tried to keep to our regular schedule but also handle Mufasa’s emergency. Many didn’t know the dire situation that we were handling in the back of the clinic and thought our office didn’t seem too busy at that time. In reality, behind the scenes, it was all hands on deck. Ashley’s dog, Jackson, was quite the super dog and donated a large amount of blood to Mufasa. Our technicians worked tirelessly to help save Mufasa’s life. Mufasa pulled through, has a clear bill of health, and is now available for adoption at Macoupin County Animal Control & Adoption Center. Please check him out! Mufasa is such a sweet boy and he deserves the best home!

Emergent situations like these are always stressful from trying to manage the day-to-day at the front of the clinic all the way to behind the scenes. However, it’s truly amazing to see how our team works together during these stressful situations, thinks on their feet, has each other’s back, and takes every patient to heart. The team kicked into action with their expertise and fearless dedication, and I appreciate and admire each member of the team more than words can express.

I also want to extend my heartfelt thank you to our clients for their patience and understanding. We are only one team and can’t handle every emergency, but our team surely does the best we can, and your support and kindness made a challenging time much more manageable. We appreciate your trust in us to care for your beloved pets!
