We have three wonderful doggies staying with us over the Christmas break. Laddie was a rescued very sick puppy with our nonprofit and is now a wonderful healthy big boy. Timmy is his cousin…little guy with a big personality. And Ripley is a favorite repeat customer of ours. What a sweetie!

Today I awoke to a message from someone telling me they were going to release seven kittens in a field if I did not take them. We hadn’t intended to take more rescue animals. To be clear this person had rescued them herself from a bad situation. She tried to take them to the municipal shelter but was refused. She herself was in an unstable life situation and really felt she had no choice. This is what happens when the municipal shelters turn people away. It trickles down to the small nonprofit. We don’t get government money. They do. We don’t have access to in house vets. They do. I could talk about this at length but I will spare you that. I will only say we are now looking for homes for seven more kittens and asking for assistance with their spay and neuter funding. If we work together as a community we can be impactful.
