Adoptable Tiny and Princess! 🐾 A quick glimpse at some of their training sessions + play sessions throughout the day.

Coco wrapped up her board + train program with us last week. Upon starting training she was leash reactive - whenever she would pass another dog she would lash out making it difficult for her owners to enjoy taking her on walks. Now, she is a neutral dog out in public settings even when walking past new dogs, making walks and life much more enjoyable for both her and her owners

Yesterday we took our board and train, Coco, to the Erie County Humane Society fundraiser where she was surrounded by other dogs and people. Our goal for Coco at this event was to remain neutral and focused on the handler - not reacting to other dogs and people. She did great and we had a fun time!
Exposure and consistency are key elements to our board and train program. You can learn more about it here: https://coldwaterk9.com/board-and-train/
Class is in session 📚🐾 The dogs are working on “place” with duration - some around new dogs they’ve never seen before. It’s important that the dogs master a neutral and relaxed mindset.
They’re also breaking in our new training area (still not quite finished). We aim to train in as many new areas as possible with the dogs: our home, barn, outdoors, stores, parks, etc. Our goal is for your dog’s training to translate to any place you take them.
Taking advantage of our carpeting being replaced on our steps with workers coming in and out of the house to utilize training. Bella and Fozzy are demonstrating their “place” with extended duration around new distractions. You can see both dogs are content and relaxed. They are expected to hold their “place” until they hear their release cue.
Implementing different scenarios during Fozzy’s training since he’s extra curious about the cats! It’s important we show the dogs in training different pictures and build upon distractions to ensure their training translates anywhere - and around anything!
Today we took a trip to TSC with Fozzy and Bella with the goal to work on loose leash walking, engagement, incorporating new distractions, and remaining neutral out in public. 🐕
Saturday at Cold Water K9
Saturday’s are for the dogs 🐕
Impulse control with Cali and Ivy at doorways. Down and sit mean just that until they hear their release command - whether at doorways, gates, out on walks, around distractions, etc. we expect the dogs to preform the behavior we asked of them. Creating structure with your dog makes life easier for the both of you. 👍🐾

This is how we “place” 🐾 Teaching dogs to have a calm mindset around distractions - new dogs, cats, and every day activities.
Yesterday, we went to the Castalia Quarry to work on off-leash obedience with Tuna. She’s come a long way from being a runner with her owners and having to chase her down, to now being able to hang out in our yard with us off-leash, and now also getting the freedom to be off-leash while on trails at the Quarry. A reliable recall is a big part of our program because no one wants to worry about their dog taking off or being in danger. Nice work, Tuna! 🐾
