Meet Sky! This gorgeous boy is going to be with us for a while, and he needs YOUR help!
Sky is currently at the vet. As you can see in the video, he doesn’t walk properly. Upon X-ray, he has quite the double whammy going on.
He came in covered in ticks that had been there a while. They were engorged, and stacked on top of each other in his ears. He is also pretty malnourished, ringing in at a whopping 4 lbs. when he came in. And he is an adult!
Sky has one back leg with a shattered femur. This leg will need to be fully amputated. His other back leg will need an FHO surgery. An FHO, or femoral head ostectomy, is a surgical procedure that aims to restore pain-free mobility to a diseased or damaged hip by removing the head and neck of the femur (the long leg bone or thighbone).
He is anemic due to all of the ticks, so the vets are working to get his blood work looking a little safer before operating. He will start with the amputation, and once healed will go back in for the FHO surgery on the other leg.
Before surgery, his vet bill is already closing in on $1000. With the addition of the surgeries it will be around $2000. Help us help this sweet boy! He is SO sweet, and the vets office can’t get over how amazing he is despite all of his hardships.
Any amount, no matter how big or small, helps us get one step closer to get his vet bills covered so he can find a wonderful home once he is all healed up!
Donations can be made via this post, our website (www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/donate), mailed to the shelter (P.O. Box 124 Centralia, IL 62801, or dropped off at the shelter any day between 12-5pm.
Please share, and help us help Sky! 💙 Photos of his X-rays will be posted in the comments since Facebook won’t allow photos and videos to be posted together.

Happy $5 Friday!
Each week, we choose one animal to raise money for. If everyone that likes our page donated just $5, we could raise life changing funds for our shelter!
This week’s spotlight is Lilo. This little girl is very special. She has cerebellar hypoplasia, which is an unusual neurological disorder as a result of interrupted development of the brain, leading to uncoordinated movement or ataxia. As you can see in the video, she “wobbles” when she walks.
This disorder does not get better or worse, it only stays like this for the remainder of her life. It can be caused due to the mother cats not being properly vaccinated, or due to other reasons. She was also tested positive for FIV.
Lilo is as sweet as can be, but will be overlooked due to her special nature. Can you donate today to help us care for Lilo?
All donations are tax deductible, and directly benefit the animals. Donations can also be made online at www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/donate.
Thank you for the shares, comments, likes, and donations. All of it is helpful! We will be posting our christmas wishlist soon 😇
Samantha

Apply today at www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/adopt. 🐾
Happy $5 Friday!
Each Friday, we spotlight one animal to raise money for. If everyone that liked our page donated just $5, we could raise a lot of money for our homeless pets!
This weeks spotlight is Bullet.
This guy was rescued by a very kind woman - he had fight wounds so bad that his body needed to be shaved. He has tested positive for FIV.
Can you guess where this guy got his name? He has a bullet lodged in his shoulder. The vets did not take it out because it is not causing him any issues.
That being said, the kind woman that saved him named him Bullet because of this.
Bullet will have a harder time finding a home because he is FIV+. He is currently rooming with Momo and Pearl, our two other FIV cats! He loves to lounge on the cat tower and sit in your lap.
Can you donate today to help us care for Bullet? He is currently receiving antibiotics for his remaining wounds that are healing. Donations can be made on our website at www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/donate.
Thank you all for your support and shares for our animals in need! 🐾
Turbo needs a home! Look at this sweet boy ❤️ He is a 3-4 year old Staffy Mix that was pulled from JCAC.
This boy is the sweetest! Only thing he doesn’t like is cats. He does well with other dogs and kids with proper introduction.
He is in the 50-55 lb. range. Turbo was heartworm positive and is now in the clear after treatment! It is imperative that he stay on a monthly preventative.
If you or someone you know can give Turbo a loving home, head over to our website www.centraliahumanesocietyil.org/adopt and email your adoption application to [email protected].
Applicants must have all pets spayed or neutered. All pets must be vaccinated yearly and dogs must be on monthly heartworm prevention. No exceptions.
