Great information for dogs and children!
Let's talk about this photo. It's cute, except it's not. I see a dog who cannot get up without telling the child to get off. How do you think a dog is going to do that?
The 7 Golden Toddler Dog Rules:
#1: If a dog walks away from you, you DO NOT FOLLOW.
#2: Always leave room for the dog to walk away from you.
---that right there is 90+% of dog bites eliminated---
#3: We do not climb on the dog.
#4: We do not grab or pull on the dog.
#5: We do not hit or throw anything at the dog.
#6: We do not touch the dog's food.
#7: We do not go into the dog's kennel.
I promise these are not overly difficult concepts for littles, nor will they rob a kid of their bond with the family dog. It will deepen that bond, while keeping everyone safe.
"Oh, it looks like Moose is walking away from you. She is saying she wants a break. Let's play with this instead!"
"It's Moose's dinner time! Let's give her space to enjoy her yummies."
"That is Moose's room(kennel) and only she is allowed to go in there."
"If Moose wanted a break, could she walk away from you right now? No she really couldn't. Let's move away from the play house. You can keep playing but now she can leave when she wants a break."
In conclusion, ***parent your child or your dog will do it for you, and you will not like how they do it.***
There is a dog training saying: “A tired dog is a good dog.” of course, it is recommended to exercise your dog, but I find many tend to rely on taking their canine companions to dog parks, playing fetch, and running with their dogs, which will tire them out in the beginning but can also create endurance and an athlete and not tire your dog, and solve the behavior issue you’re may be trying to solve with the same amount of exercise.
🐕 We must teach our canine companions how to be calm at home, during walks, and whenever needed. Sometimes, the weather isn’t great, or you or your dog might not be feeling well or able to engage in the usual activities that generally tire them out.
🐕 Teaching your dog there’s a time and a place for certain behaviors and how to relax in the home and be comfortable when you leave will create a happy home and a happy life.
It’s all about !!

Some helpful tips for those looking for a dog trainer! Please keep this in mind when you are making your decision. The safety of you and your dog is extremely important. Do your research before choosing your next trainer. Feel free to ask us any questions, we might not be the best fit for you but we would be happy to help you find the right trainer for you and your pup!
This is a hot and hefty topic, but you know we keep it real around here… 🔥
The unfortunate truth is that, in many scenarios, this statement holds validity. Regardless of our dog's good behavior, the unpredictable nature of other dogs in the environment poses a risk to our pets.
A lack of understanding of canine body language is widespread, leaving numerous dogs feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, and stressed in places like dog parks. These emotions can escalate and result in conflicts.
How do you choose to spend quality time with your dog, considering alternatives to the dog park?

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Check out this fantastic idea someone shared: painters tape! It's genius. The owner, dealing with an open kitchen layout, found it challenging to establish clear boundaries. While baby gates work for some, those with open concepts face trickier situations. Painters tape provides a visual cue, helping the dog understand and respect the kitchen boundary in a way that's both effective and practical. Is your dog having difficulty respecting boundaries in the kitchen? Give this a shot and share your feedback with us!

Get ready to kick off the new year with a bang! We're thrilled to introduce our brand-new leash-walking intro group class. Hurry, though - we're starting with just 4 participants per class, so secure your spot before we hit capacity. As more folks sign up, we'll keep the classes rolling. For a full-day clinic jam-packed with leash wisdom, handling skills, and mastering walks amid distractions, all at the fantastic price of $125, it's a fantastic deal! Quick heads up: this isn't the gig for dogs with behavioral quirks (no aggression/reactivity here). Plus, your furry pals should be crate trained, as we'll be giving them some 1-on-1 TLC. Ready to join the fun? Fill out the form, and we'll be in touch! Any burning questions? Just let us know! 🐾

Inspired by another trainer to get to work on our heel flip! We’ve still got a ways to go but this dudes hind end awareness is coming along nicely. I was surprised how well we did for our first session. We’ve done bits and pieces of this before but never put it all together. I’ll try to keep posting progress videos!

Big confidence day for Hazel! Today we took advantage of the empty playground & worked on confidence building while out in public. There were tons of loud noises, construction workers, people mowing their grass & Hazel did fantastic. So proud of her progress!
Exposure vs. Socialization If you ever got a new puppy/dog and heard people say “make sure you socialize them enough!” and immediately go out and let everyone play with your puppy, you’re not totally wrong. While there is a huge difference between socialization and exposure, exposure is key. We want our dogs to be stable in new environments and around as many new things as possible. Socializing your new dog/puppy can be fun, but just like humans, we don’t like everyone or want to interact with everyone we meet. Too much socialization could lead to reactivity or frustration to go meet that dog walking across the street or the person walking by. Exposing your dog/puppy to new places/people/sounds/dogs without meeting everyone helps them stay engaged with you as their owner, while they learn the world isn’t a scary place.
As we are getting closer to our maternity leave, here are some of our favorite enrichment activities! As first time moms we don’t really know what to expect. But we do know we can keep our dogs mentally stimulated with brain games! Mentally stimulating activities such as the snuffle mat, towel, and box feeding can be just as exhausting for a dog as physical exercise. A few do-it-yourself enrichment activities we also enjoy include: gallon jugs without the lid, cardboard boxes, and a muffin tin with tennis balls to cover the food. These activities are something you can incorporate into their meal times to make feeding time fun!
