Hello friends and family of All About Pets veterinary hospital! It’s Laura, the previous practice manager of AAPVH. It is so hard to find the words to describe the last couple months! So I decided to share what I wrote on my personal account to fill every one in on the happenings! I hope to see you all again very soon!

I have always disliked endings. Some are easier than others, say the last day of summer or the last few pages of a book. Some break our hearts like having to say good-bye to someone or something we love. Yet in endings and change, sometimes something miraculous happens. A door opens, sometimes a door to a new adventure.

In having to close this chapter of my life at All About Pets, I have been shocked at how the universe answered me with literally not one single moment to spare. On the second to the last day at AAPVH, a kind woman walked through the doors of our hospital to see a very tired and heartbroken team, pulling together all that we had to care for our patients and clients, up until the last minute of our doors being open. After talking with myself and the rest of the team, we walked to her car. She looked at me with such warmth and said, “I think I’m going to buy this practice.” I replied with “I really hope you do, but if not that is okay, too; we will all be okay. We’re a lot tougher than we look! What is meant to be will be.” Fast forward two months: Dr. Sandra Hazanow and I will be opening Riverwood Veterinary Hospital.

It has been a whirlwind of emotions and hard work over the last two months, closing AAPVH and readying to open a new hospital. I am so grateful to get to work with another exceptional veterinarian and am beyond excited for this new adventure! I cannot wait to see some familiar faces and paws at Riverwood Veterinary Hospital! Although it will be different, somethings will always be: this will always be my home. I have never stopped fighting for Dawn and what she loved and believed in. She loved her family, friends, team, and, of course, all of the animals, great and small. There are some people who are so much a part of us that they’ll be with us no matter what. Our North Star, those clear voices in our hearts that will be with us . . . Always!

We will have a soft opening of Riverwood this week, scheduling appointments only on Tuesday, June 15th (won’t be open for any services) and scheduling and seeing appointments on Wednesday, June 16th through Saturday, June 19th; and Wednesday, June 23rd - Saturday, June 26th. Normal business days and hours will begin on the first week of July. Monday-Friday 8am-6pm
There will be some familiar faces to welcome you to the hospital as well: Lori, Ariel, Wendy, Madison, and Fabiola. We can’t wait for you all to meet Dr. Hazenow; she is Amazing! The Chico community will be gaining a wonderful asset to veterinary care.

It is with a broken and very heavy heart that we let our All About Pets Veterinary Hospital friends and family know that as of March 19, 2021 we will be permanently closing our doors. We are so sad to say goodbye but since the loss of our beloved owner, Dr. Dawn Alves, we have not been successful in our search for another doctor.
We are working diligently to get everyone their medical records. Please feel free to call the office, we will put you on a list and get them emailed to you as quickly as possible. Please be patient and kind with our staff, we have been through so much over the last nine months. We are working hard to help everyone, but it is not a fast process and exceedingly difficult mentally to have to say goodbye to so many so quickly.
As far as All About Equine goes, we are happy to say that Dr. Kerry Rapacz will be purchasing the equine portion of the practice and continue to provide exceptional and compassionate care for our equine family.
We love you all from the bottom of our hearts, there are no words to describe how much we will miss all our clients, patients, and fellow teammates.

Kennel Assistant
All About Pets Veterinary Hospital is seeking a part-time kennel assistant. Veterinary kennel assistants are responsible for the day-to-day care of patients and boarders. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring the well-being of dogs, cats and, occasionally, other companion animals. Kennel assistants must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects, the dexterity and confidence to administer medications, and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease. It is essential that they have the ability and willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle, compassionate care for boarded and hospitalized pets. Approximately 15-20 hours per week, which include Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Kennel assistants candidates require the following strengths:
• Strong Communication Skills
• Good Organizational Skills
• Team Player
• Compassionate and Proficient Patient Care
• Ability to Multi-task
• Self-motivated
• Kennel assistants need to be able to lift up to 50 # unaided
Kennel assistants candidate’s duties include but not limited to the following:
• Care of boarders (feed, water, walk, provide love Etc..)
• Administer medications to hospitalized patients and boarding animals if needed
• Assists doctors with patient care on weekends and holidays
• Follow OSHA standards
• Upkeep cleanliness of the hospital
• Cleans and disinfects runs and cages
• Laundry
• Sweeps and mops floors in hospital and boarding area
• Refill needed supplies throughout hospital
• Attends monthly staff meetings

Your All About Pets family has experienced a devastating loss of our beloved owner Doctor Dawn Alves. Our hearts are heavy as we remember how Dawn touched the lives of everyone she met, human and animal alike. She was a leader, teacher and inspiration to all of us. We hope to keep her name and life's work thriving. We do want to ensure not only our clients, but also our friends, that we will be staying open to keep Dawn’s legacy alive. Maintaining the health and well-being of our patients is our number one priority. We do ask for patience as our staff try to navigate through this incredibly hard time.

What clients should do when they arrive at the hospital:
· Please park in one of the spaces near the hospital.
· Call the office (530-342-0725) and provide them with your name, your pet’s name and a description of your vehicle.
· Please remain in your vehicle with your animal.
· A team member will discuss your needs by phone when you arrive.
· If you have a scheduled appointment the pre-examination history will be collected by a staff member over the phone or we will come out to your car
· At the end of the conversation, a staff member will come to the parking lot to bring your pet into the building for their examination.
· Please ensure that all dogs have a leash attached to a snugly fitted collar or harness on prior to our staff member arriving at your vehicle. Please have all cats inside a carrier.
· If your animal needs to stay with us for longer than your appointment block for additional diagnostics (ultrasound, x-rays, blood work etc) you can wait in the parking lot until these diagnostics have been performed or you can opt to return later in the day to collect your pet.
· Once the care of your animal is complete, the discharge process will be discussed, the invoice total will be provided, and credit card information or payment will be collected. Then your pet, an itemized invoice, receipt and any medication dispensed will be brought by a staff member to your vehicle.
· Please remain in your vehicle during the entirety of your visit.
These policies likely will need to be adjusted as the situation related to COVID-19 changes over the coming weeks and months. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
