"Remember"
Someone's child, left long ago,
A strange land,
Someone's foe.
An unmarked grave, fields of green,
Resting quiet,
Just eighteen.
Winds of freedom, wash us now,
Remember them,
This I vow.

🐴 "Horses change lives. They give our young people confidence and self-esteem. They provide peace and tranquility to troubled souls, they give us hope.” β€” Toni Robinson

This was Red. A confidence builder. A lover like no other. THE shoulder to cry on. Kind. Full of heart, wisdom, and pure goodness. She loved children, elderly, and other animals. In fact- she loved everything. Her name was Red Red, but we called her "Mama," as this was her nature. She lived a VERY long, full life....and I don't know if that makes it harder, or easier, to see her cross the bridge.

Red passed in the night. She is free from the chains of age and illness- and I just know she's trapsing through the pastures of heaven, knickering sounds of love and peace. I will miss her knickers and whinnying like no other sound I've heard before. I will miss her head in my chest, and her incessant want and need for ear scratches, mane brushing, and cheek kisses.

Run free, sweet girl. You were the best of us....

Well, we have purposely gone a REALLY LONG time without asking for anything- because we know everyone's feeling some kind of strain with soaring prices of almost everything. We, too, are feeling this crunch immensely, and we desperately need some assistance with a few things. We pay for everything out of pocket, for our senior residents specifically, and otherwise, for that matter. With that said, we NEED your help. Here is the list of expenses we have, just for this month, that an offset would help with more than you know! Its a big month around here- even though this list isn't even close to exhaustive. If you can find it feasible to help us, help them- we would all be very, very grateful!

** Vaccines @ $90 x 5 = $450
** Floats @ $125 x 5 = $625
** Feet @ $40 x 5 = $200
** 20 bales Alfalfa Hay (2 string is currently $36 a bale at our local feed store) = $720
** 40 bags Purina Impact Senior @ $26 per bag = $1,040

January's Main Expense Total: $3,035

ALL DONATIONS can be made via our *secure* website- and anything helps:

Some things around here have changed recently- some for the better, some not....and, well, that's put us in a state of questioning. Questioning our mission, our purpose, my drive, even my faith. But, as I drag the pastures tonight, I can honestly say- Thank you, dearest Heavenly Father, for this life. This charge. This mission. For my drive, passion, and a purpose. I promise, on our toughest days, I will praise You. On our brightest days, I will praise You.

Horse rescue, training, farm life, and all that comes with it is definitely not for everyone....but, with God, all things are possible.

Calling on our wonderful supporters! We need you! Come summertime, it becomes vaccine time! We are also due for hooficures! Now, we normally don't ask for much of anything for our sanctuary horses- but, while things have been manageable, they have still been a little tight. And, we know everyone is feeling the crunch economically, right now- but if you can find it in your heart to help us offset just some of these necessary costs for our sanctuary crew, we would be immensely grateful! God bless y'all for your love and care for the work we do here!

Any contribution to helping us with this, can be made via our secure website:

The long road of rescue....

Many days, hours, weeks....months, even.... it has taken for this brave, stoic, independent, crazed, fearful, and, at the root of it- just downright traumatized girl to come around. To trust and accept even the most basic of human interaction again. Many kicks, nips, head tosses, rears, bucks, and lots of time walking *sometimes running* all over 10 acres to join up, or accomplish the simplest of tasks, was endured in our attempt to let her be "her," mostly, AND at liberty. But- the reward has been so much more than we could have ever imagined! This OTTB flea bitten grey beauty is Sonic, JC: Sonic Forever, out of the Archer rescue, where four rescues (Us, Beauty's Haven, Southern Redhead Rescue, and Horses Without Humans, were able, in total, tp collect 45 emaciated, tired, sick, injured, and downright neglected (some of which had already passed upon our arrival) equine. Our small intake group, we called "The Faithful Two." (You may know this same group as "The Thankful Ones" on the Horses Without Humans rescue page.)

Her personality is, and always will be "Sonic." Brave, stoic, pensive, watchful, intrigued....but, her heart has changed. There is no more fear. Her trauma fades farther away with every passing day. Now, she understands; no one will ever harm her again. She will never again be hungry, and full of worms or sand. Her feet will never be disheveled, her mane and tail never again knotted to the point of pain. Rain rot will never scald her skin. She will never be forced, pushed, or manipulated. She is free to be Sonic- and nothing more. And, in giving her that freedom, she has come to SEEK love, interaction, conversation, and ultimately, partnership. While this sweet girl will never be ridden again (age and track days have sadly contributed to arthritis,) her value is priceless.

Did you know- you, too, can be a part of rescue?! If you or someone you know would like to volunteer to be a part of the lives of this majestic being, or any of our other rescue horses, please reach out to us! We'd LOVE to have you!

Rescue takes a village! Come be a part of ours!

Our testaments about why our farm began, and what we stand for would not be true without sharing His word! This message, given by Peter, one of the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ- while seemingly long- is one of so much importance for believers and non-believers alike. It is a message of hope, of truth, of instruction, and maybe even some clarification. And, on this blessed Easter/resurrection Sunday- the day we recognize as the day the the tomb was found empty, and it was discovered Jesus Christ had risen from the dead, just as he proclaimed he would- it is a message of our renewal in Him, and God the Father, if you just have faith.

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!!

1 Peter: 1-25

1 From Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ - To God's chosen people who live as refugees scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.
2 You were chosen according to the purpose of God the Father and were made a holy people by his Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be purified by his blood. May grace and peace be yours in full measure.
3 Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope,
4 and so we look forward to possessing the rich blessings that God keeps for his people. He keeps them for you in heaven, where they cannot decay or spoil or fade away.
5 They are for you, who through faith are kept safe by God's power for the salvation which is ready to be revealed at the end of time.
6 Be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer.
7 Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praise and glory and honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed.
8 You love him, although you have not seen him, and you believe in him, although you do not now see him. So you rejoice with a great and glorious joy which words cannot express,
9 because you are receiving the salvation of your souls, which is the purpose of your faith in him.
10 It was concerning this salvation that the prophets made careful search and investigation, and they prophesied about this gift which God would give you.
11 They tried to find out when the time would be and how it would come. This was the time to which Christ's Spirit in them was pointing, in predicting the sufferings that Christ would have to endure and the glory that would follow.
12 God revealed to these prophets that their work was not for their own benefit, but for yours, as they spoke about those things which you have now heard from the messengers who announced the Good News by the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. These are things which even the angels would like to understand.
13 So then, have your minds ready for action. Keep alert and set your hope completely on the blessing which will be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.
14 Be obedient to God, and do not allow your lives to be shaped by those desires you had when you were still ignorant.
15 Instead, be holy in all that you do, just as God who called you is holy.
16 The scripture says, "Be holy because I am holy."
17 You call him Father, when you pray to God, who judges all people by the same standard, according to what each one has done; so then, spend the rest of your lives here on earth in reverence for him.
18 For you know what was paid to set you free from the worthless manner of life handed down by your ancestors. It was not something that can be destroyed, such as silver or gold;
19 it was the costly sacrifice of Christ, who was like a lamb without defect or flaw.
20 He had been chosen by God before the creation of the world and was revealed in these last days for your sake.
21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from death and gave him glory; and so your faith and hope are fixed on God.
22 Now that by your obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves and have come to have a sincere love for other believers, love one another earnestly with all your heart.
23 For through the living and eternal word of God you have been born again as the children of a parent who is immortal, not mortal.
24 As the scripture says, "All human beings are like grass, and all their glory is like wild flowers. The grass withers, and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord remains forever." This word is the Good News that was proclaimed to you.

✝️"He knew, in order to have a Sunday, there had to be a Friday."

He received 39 stripes because 40 was known to kill a man. They wanted him alive.

They held handfuls of his beard, and hair and pulled it out by the roots. They wanted him alive.

They kicked, punched, and spit on him for hours. Until there wasn't a single spot on his body not covered in blood. They wanted him alive.

They shoved a crown of thorns down on his head so harshly it stuck in his skin. They wanted him alive.

After hours of being beaten, mocked, whipped, flogged, and tortured they made him walk with a cross. They made him carry it. A rough piece of wood with splinters digging into fresh wounds. They wanted him alive.

They wanted him to feel every ounce of pain they could bring.

He had to feel it in order to heal us.

Crucifixion was historically one of the cruelest most tortured deaths a human could face. Hours upon hours of torture. Torture most of us can not mentally think of because the cruelty isn't normal. It isn't something our minds can comprehend.

We celebrate Easter with pastel colors, happy children hunting eggs, and chocolate. Truth is there was absolutely nothing happy about the day Jesus died. It was cruel, bloody, and nasty.

He could have stopped all of it. He could have called every angel in heaven to demolish every person standing and shouting "Crucify Him!"

He didn't. He knew in order to have a Sunday you have to have a Friday. He knew in order to have joy you have to carry your cross. He felt everything that day. He felt how your heart broke wide open when you had to watch your baby die. He felt how heavy your life was when you were staring down the barrel of a gun wondering if the man you called husband was going to shoot you. He carried the weight of the burden you have felt since your spouse died and life just doesn't seem right since. On that cross he held the ra**st and murderers, the sinner and the saint. He leveled every playing field and said ALL of you are worth it. He knew he had to carry the cross. He never promised the cross you carry in this life would not be heavy. His wasn't. His promise is that Sunday is coming.

No matter how heavy Friday is. Financially, emotionally, mentally, or physically. Friday is heavy. That cross is weighing you down and you are about to crumble under its weight.

His promise was simply this. He won't make you carry it alone.

What kind of king would step down from his throne for this?
Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God did. For you.

He did every bit of it for you and me.

Oh yes it is heavy. So heavy sometimes you do not think you can take one more step.

But look up, because Sunday is coming. -copied

Everyone, please welcome the newest member of our Faithful family, Chili! He's a gentle souled 15.1H Registered Standardbred, with a kind eye, who we are SO elated to have here for life. He is the farm's *personal* horse, not a rescue. He has been graciously entrusted to us by a WONDERFUL previous owner, and it shows! Chili will not only be our owner's personal mount, but a member of our mounted therapeutic learning program! He is an absolute dream, and we feel so blessed! WELCOME HOME, CHILI!

MORNING FUN AT THE RESCUE! Spring is one of our favorite seasons; the weather is warmer, but still invigorating, the fog is thick in the mornings.... and God has a way of cleansing away the winter blues, bringing new life to everything! This is not lost on the horses here at LOFF & EER- well, except maybe Red! She says, "I am too old for all your shenanigans!" They, and the dogs (who are also rescues) were definitely feeling themselves this morning! And, it's such a glorious thing to watch! Excuse our mess- we're under construction! And, ENJOY!
